Ford has hinted around at a face lift for the Mustang in 2009 and now Road & Track Magazine has revealed the first concept pictures of the 2009 Ford Mustang. It is not the total redesign that everyone was expecting yet a “cleaned up version of the 2007 Mustang. Road & Track Magazine makes note that the cleaned up version that will be introduced in 2009 is expected to run from 2009 until 2011.

Expect the 4.0 V6 engine that Ford currently uses in the 2007 V6 Mustang to be replaced by the new 3.5L Cyclone Engine. Expect the power of the 2009 V6 Mustang to reach anywhere from 260-280 Horsepower.

Not much is being said about the V8 engine that will be used in the 2009 Mustang GT but many expect the 4.6L V8 to continue to find its place in the engine bay of the GT and be Naturally Aspirated. The expected power range hinted is too broad to really get excited over. One would only expect the power displacement to increase from the 305HP of the 2007 Mustang, if in fact the 3.5 Duratec is used in the V6 Mustang. I would expect 340-360HP in stock form from the 2009 GT Mustang.

2012 is a whole new story in which Ford has hinted at a complete overhaul of the Mustang, much like the overhaul from 2004 to 2005. It’s also rumored that we could also see the return of the Hatchback in 2012 as well.

Ford Motor Company’s “Way Forward” campaign seems to be in high gear now. With the rumors of a 2008 Bullitt Mustang and more information on the 2009 Mustang being revealed you can only sit back and wait in anticipation at what lies ahead for the Ford Mustang crowd.
