BBS Automotive Technology has filed an Insolvency Request in Germany citing a loss of a “big customer” and rising aluminum costs for it’s inability to pay its debts. BBS produces wheels for the Ford Mustang, such as the BBS RK and Spider rims, and also supplies wheels for the Formula 1 series. BBS is a well known wheel supplier with BBS wheels being sold by big names such as Tire Rack.

I’m not up on Germany’s laws so I don’t know all the legal processes involved with companies on the brink of bankruptcy. If it’s anything like America then they should have plenty of time to turn their business around (just look at Ford and GMC). Hopefully they will be given an opportunity turn their company around and continue producing quality rims for us Mustang Enthusiasts.

If they can’t save themselves then they have an income that many companies would love to take over. We can only hope that they would be bought out before just throwing in the towel and leaving us Mustang Enthusiasts to search elsewhere for our Mustang rims.
