2008 Shelby GT500KR Specs Revealed
To be unveiled at the 2007 New York International Auto Show, the 2008 Shelby GT500KR (King of the Road), is the most powerful Mustang to date producing 540 Horsepower and 510 Torque. Sporting a unique carbon composite hood featuring the classic Shelby “KR” design and a finely tuned suspension the 2008 Shelby GT500KR is more than just a power upgrade over a regular Shelby GT500.
2008 Shelby GT500KR Highlights
- 5.4-liter supercharged V-8 producing an estimated 540-horsepower and 510 ft.-lbs. of torque
- Ford Racing Power Upgrade Pack featuring revised calibration and cold air intake system
- 6-speed manual transmission with 3.73:1 rear axle ratio
- Ford Racing performance exhaust system
- Unique performance suspension tuning: springs, dampers, and stabilizer bars
- Shelby-designed “GT500KR” 20-inch wheels (18-inch version for production)

I think FORD has a winner on styling and now performance to stay up with the competition to come along.

Well now I expect to see some 300 hp V6 mustangs and over 350 hp GTs. Should have that suspension on all the mustangs or at least something like it.

Indeed the gap between GT and Shelby regarding HP is huge. My larger than any GT to Cobra of the same year. It is a 200HP gap now. In 2004 the Cobra only had 90 more horsepower than the GT. So I am guessing in 2009/2010 we will see an increase in both V6 and GT horsepower.
