Ford Dealership Calls Out Non-Believers
I try not to use this blog as a platform to express my beliefs on politics and religion, however every now and then something related to Ford or Mustangs crosses into that territory and I feel like it should be brought to your attention because the behavior of Ford Dealerships across the country reflect on Ford Motor Company as a whole. With that said, a Ford dealership in California is using Religion to try to sell cars by running an advertisement on local radio telling those that want God removed from the Pledge of Allegiance and US Currency to “sit down and shut up”.
This is the full text of the advertisement:
Did you know that there are people in this country who want prayer out of schools, “Under God” out of the Pledge, and “In God We Trust” to be taken off our money?
But did you know that 86% of Americans say they believe in God? Now, since we all know that 86 out of every 100 of us are Christians who believe in God, we at Kieffe & Sons Ford wonder why we don’t just tell the other 14% to sit down and shut up. I guess maybe I just offended 14% of the people who are listening to this message. Well, if that is the case, then I say that’s tough, this is America folks, it’s called free speech. And none of us at Kieffe & Sons Ford are afraid to speak up. Kieffe & Sons Ford on Sierra Highway in Mojave and Rosamond: if we don’t see you today, by the grace of God, we’ll be here tomorrow.
Now the thing that really kills me is they want to hide behind free speech but at the same time tell someone who has an opposing view to theirs to “sit down and shut up”. The hypocrisy of some people never cease to amaze me. I hope that those that hear this call or write in and express their outrage at yet another business trying to profit off of their religion.

Yeah, pretty blatant hypocrisy there. Everyone’s entitled to their say, even if it’s the minority. Doesn’t mean we have to do cater towards that 14% or whatever, but definately shouldn’t tell them to shut up.
It’s unfortunate what some say in the name of being “Christan.”

86% of Americans didn’t say they believed in the narrow-minded, intolerant fundamentalist, alienating Christian God!
By the way, Jesus called…. he said he wants his religion back!

honestly, id rather buy a car from these guys because of their honesty.
but they shouldn’t have said “sit down and shut up”
they should have said…
“no one cares. you can talk all you want, but no one is listening”
then they wouldnt be hypocrits.

I wonder how these guys even have a dealership. I have driven by this place and it is tiny and most the cars seem to be sitting on a dirt lot off the sierra highway. No way would I buy my mustang from them. I hear their commercials in this area all the time and they are always corny. They must write them by themselves.

“I hope that those that hear this call or write in and express their outrage…”
You mean you hope they express your outrage.

No, contrary to popular belief, this is America, where people can not believe in a God and still have freedoms. On top of that, I would hope that people could have common sense to realize when someone is using Religion for profit.

A few other things to point out: This poll that they are referring to, it says that 86% of Americans believe in God. It doesn’t say that 86% of American are Christians. There are a lot of Non-Christian religions in America that believe in God. Secondly, their poll says that 14% does not beieve in God, but never stated how much of that 14% would want religeous messages removed from money, the pledge, etc. This country was founded as a Christian country, it has strong ties to it’s very creation. So regardless of your religion, the United States of America will always be “One Nation Under God”.
