Steve McQueen’s first wife, Neile McQueen Toffel (aka Neile Adams), has decided to auction off some items she has had in storage. There are a lot of interesting items from household items, movie props, lots of letters with Steve McQueen’s autograph on them and oh yea… a 2001 Pre Production Bullitt Mustang. The auction is being handled by Bonhams.

Here are some of the most interesting things being auctioned:

  • First Racing Trophy – This cheap pewter cup was the first trophy won by Steve McQueen at a SCCA even in Santa Barbara, California in 1959. He drove a 1958 Porsche Speedster.
  • Autographed Movie Still from Bullitt – Signed in waterproof marker, this movie still will surely be a popular item at the auction.
  • Letter on Solar Productions Letterhead -You may or may not have realized that Steve McQueen wasn’t very popular with the Manson family. In fact, his name appeared on their hit list which lead Steve McQueen to author this letter requesting his gun permit be expedited. The letter was written on letterhead left over from the filming of Le Mans which had just wrapped up.
  • Mrs. McQueen’s Racing Jacket from Le Mans – This jacket, in perfect condition was worn by Mrs. McQueen during the filming of Le Mans in France during the summer of 1970.
  • 2001 Ford Mustang Bullitt Pre-Production – This car is #2 in the Bullitt numbering.

The auction will be held October 25 beginning at 11:00 AM at the Petersen Automotive Museum, 6060 Wilshire Blvd, Los Angeles, California.
