80MPG 400HP Mustang Heads To SEMA
Doug Pelmar’s 1987 Ford Mustang LX Coupe made waves a couple of months ago when it was announced that he managed to get 400HP out of his Mustang while at the same time achieving 80MPG on E85 gas. E85 is an alcohol fuel mixture that burns hotter but releases less pollutants.
A little over a month ago NBC 24 of Toledo took the Mustang on a road trip to see how the car would perform in a real world test. They managed to get 50MPG out of the car in their 103 mile journey.
Now Doug Pelmear is getting ready for a trip to Las Vegas to not only be at SEMA but to really put the car on a grueling road test of 4,000+ miles round trip. Doug and his team will use this time to track the Mustang’s gas mileage.
The car even got a send off ceremony to start it’s journey with the Governor of Ohio making a statement regarding how Doug’s car could not only change the nation but the world as well. Check out the video below for the full story.

Well???? Did he make it to SEMA? Did he get the MPG he claimed? SEMA is over so wasn’t anyone following up on this?
Yeah, I didn’t think so either.

He did appear there but no new info was given out. He was basically using the trip to test for internal use. We won’t know numbers until the competition is over.
