Does anyone have a 05-09 4.0L v6 and have 350hp? Or even 300+hp? If you do what mods did you use to get it. Iv been trying to research everywhere and I can't find out how I can achieve this goal.

Yes it does. Go to American Muscle, as everything I have ordered is from there, price it out.

JimC owned a 4.0 liter V6 that was ProCharged. No need for a built engine that 4.0 is tough. Forgot how much power he was putting down but just search "JimC" he talks about his 4.0 a lot, or PM him he's got a ton of info and likes to help people.

This guy again... The 4.0 V6 sucks for performance. Period. Its an average largish V6 with no bells and whistles. With enough money you can make anything fast. Comparing it to the 3.5TT Eco is like comparing a .22 practice rifle to a .50 caliber rifle. Yeah they are both "guns"...

Yup. I put a ford performance exhaust on the 07 to make it sound a bit better and put all my other money into appearance mods. Aside from doing suspension next, thats it. Paid $7500 for it 4 years ago. She's just fine to me. Not even thinking about putting money into the engine.

If you buy a Vortech V2 supercharger kit with water to air after cooler, you can get to 300rwhp on 91 octane! @10psi!

If you buy the Vortech V3 kit. It comes with a front mount intercooler and a 16psi pulley! That will take you over 400rwhp and you can run midv12's in the 1/4 mile!

Up to your budget!

With the V6 models of mustangs, up until the most recent model 16-17, trying to get more horsepower out of those engines will cost too much money for how little you will get in the end. You would need to get a built engine, exhaust, throttle body, probably upgrade spark plugs, intake, etc. Honestly if you save up the money and do your research and have the tools or money, just do a new coyote swap because they start with good horsepower and torque and have endless possibilities unlike the V6's.

There is so much bad info in this post I'm not even going to go through it line by line. I'll leave it at ppl who post stuff like this are the problem with most forums out there.

Lol. Well at least its still easy to spot the internet drag racers. I wish you all the best of luck... you better be into the low 11s with that thing to back up the talk if not faster.

#109 · (Edited)
Lol yeah really. My hp is better than your hp so I'm gonna win for sure. Says every person who has never spent time at a legit track.

Not saying there aren't Cyclones out there that are fast as hell but if you think you'll be at 500hp and reliable and running low 11s or 10s for less than a Coyote you're in for a rude awakening.

And your car is a 12 Cyclone with bolt ons, looks like at least some suspension and you are doing a LPF install. And a stick shift which will automatically put you at a disadvantage vs the A6 cars at the track.

Have you done any research at all? There's turbo cyclones in the 10s on a stock sealed motor. There's been cyclones pushing over 600whp on a stock motor. 500whp is a reliable power level. And I'm far from the first one to aim for that goal. Similar lpf cars have easily cracked over 500whp while still on a stock fuel pump. Seriously you need to do your research.

"Doing online research" Lol. Post timeslips when you get it done man. Will be eating popcorn as suggested above.

#112 ·
Oh and if you take out all the mods that I would've done on a coyote anyway then I'm actually a few grand under what a coyote would've cost me when I bought my car. As for legit track actually a manual is still better on a legit track than a non dct auto. Now drag strip yes I'm at a slight disadvantage especially since my car is setup a bit more for handling. But seriously do some research. It shows you know nothing about the capabilities if cyclones.

#113 ·
I know plenty about what they are capable of. But "doing your research" and "there are guys in the 10s" is different than actually YOU doing it or seeing it done locally at your track. Like I said, wish you all the best. At the end of the day the Coyote that will cost the same or less than a Turbo LPF 6 can just put a 200 shot on for cheap.

And at the drag strip at 500hp level you will not be at a "slight" disadvantage vs a properly setup automatic... try half a second.

Yet I just did an lpf cyclone for less than I could've bought a coyote for. Odd. And you can keep waiting on the 1/4 slip. Nearest strip is 3 hours from savannah. Now Roebling Road is 20 min away and I'll definitely be at that track.

Lol so what your saying is a car that's setup for road racing with a manual will be slower in the 1/4 than an automatic with a drag setup and a higher rpm stall?
Gee wouldn't of ever have guess that!

This is my 14th mustang and my 9th turbo car. With the last one being a turbo ls1 camaro setup for the 1/4. This isn't my first rodeo and it won't be my last.

So what have we learned?

A cyclone with a turbo kit can indeed be cheaper the a stock coyote.

A cyclone with a turbo kit can indeed make more power than a bolt on coyote (and even one with a moderate to aggressive shot of nitrous).

A cyclone with a stock engine stock trans and stock suspension can run 10s.

Has mine? No it's just now starting to go together with dyno tuning in 2 weeks. But it's been done and obviously can be done.

With that I'm done as you haven't even looked into what these cars can and have done.

Oh good another street racer that has no idea what their cars actually would run on a properly prepped track... Like I said GL dude. I know what these cars have done on the internet, its pretty easy to google. IRL and how common these cars are, different story.

#116 ·
Street racer? I just said Roebling Road. Apparently you can't research or read.

It's all beside the point anyway as you said no a cyclone can't. And yet they have numerous times. Doesn't matter how many times you say no or try to insist they can't when they already have.

Roebling Road es un hipódromo, Sr. Scotty.

Scotty is in Spain, Bastard, sometimes you need to translate.

While adding boost to a 3.7 is certainly a welcome change from the multitudes of exhaust-tune-wheels Mustangs on the road, I think that it becomes more difficult to justify the economics of modifications such as that, when you can buy a new GT that has 460-475 hp.
Along with the fact that, typically, when you sell a highly modified car, you only get back pennies on the dollar of your investment.
Not trying to disrespect what you are doing, quite the opposite, I'm always amazed at the power that the 3.7 can make. One of the forum members is close to being in the tens! And it is the true spirit of hot rodding. :)
It's just that technology has moved so quickly in the past decade, that what may have been a good idea a couple of years ago, may not seem as attractive in the current day.

I love what the new gt's can do. Their price tag? Not so much. And while I miss the v8 sound this little six has surprised me. I have no doubt it'll be able to run neck to neck with my old tc76 camaro.

The guy I got this kit from ran 11.1 supercharged. Then cracked 10s with a stock engine. Then swapped forged rods and piston into the stock block (no sleeve upgrade or head upgrades) and clicked off a 9.8 pass. Michael Greene also ran 10s in his stock suspension, stock trans, stock sealed longblock turbo 3.7. They are a surprisingly capable motor. Ultimately not as good as a coyote. But when I bought my 3.7 the cheapest coyote near it was 7-8k more and it had 20k+ more miles on it. So ultimately I'm pretty happy with where I am with this car. I know a turbo coyote could be faster but that's coin and at this point pretty common.

Si, no hablo englais... or something... Roebling Road sounds like a street that dudes meet up at to race. Glad its not that.

You're telling me you can do a low mile cyclone plus the LPF and supporting cast to safely run low 11s for under $20k? Because that's what you'd need to be doing and why I keep saying BS. Unless you got an ultra low miles pristine Cyclone for like $12k and then I'd like to hire you to negotiate my rent contract for me lol.

Example, 50k mile mint condition 2011 GT auto on SVTP just sold for $16k. Not around you but that is what shipping companies/plane tickets are for.
