According to NHTSA, and Ford, the vehicles fail to comply with two federal safety standards, to be exact numbers 102, and 108, which deal with the shift lever sequence, starter interlock, and transmission braking effect. Number 108 deals with the reverse lamps. The culprit is believed to be an improperly calibrated Transmission Range Sensor.

So, what exactly does this all mean? Is my new Mustang going to crash, and burn? The short answer to that is no! However, several  safety issues arise, the first being that the transmission may not go into reverse, or if it does shift into reverse, a light on the dashboard may not illuminate (F-150,Expedition, and Navigator), center console on the Mustang.

The second issue, is that the back-up lights on these vehicles may not light up, which could cause numerous safety problems, as well, as put others in danger.

For example, say Jane doe was walking back to her car after a long a day of shopping, and Jon Smith, was backing out of his parking spot, but his reverse lights weren’t working. Splat! Jane runs right into Jon’s Mustang, and now she has to be rushed to the hospital for surgery.  This could have been avoided if Jon’s reverse lights were working. So, please don’t blow this recall off.

Now, what do I do? Ford will notify the affected owners by mail, most likely on, or about June 25, 2o12.  If your vehicle(s) are impacted by this recall, and you would like to contact Ford, you may call Customer relations at: 1-888-327-4236.  Once you have received the notice, you may contact your dealer, and setup an appointment to have the TRS inspected, or replaced free of charge.

Common sense says, if you are already experiencing these issues, contact your dealer, or Ford Customer Relation’s ASAP!

As you know the Mustang GT still has that 5.0-liter V8. It gained eight horsepower this year bumping it up to a 420-HP. Ford Racing gets their hands on one and makes this a very impressive modern machine.

They added a Ford Racing/Whipple supercharger kit that consists of a 2.3-liter supercharger, bigger injectors and a prototype ECU reflash. (The 2013-specific kit hasn’t yet been finalized, but it will share its catalog part number with the supercharger kit for the 2011-2012 Mustang GT.) If you plan to add a supercharger to your new 2013 Mustang GT, Ford Racing claims that the supercharger kits are good for an additional 204-horses. That’s 624-horses total. That alone is more than a Shelby GT500.

The new ‘Stang features an 8.8-inch rear axle putting more power to the rear wheels, and a GT side-exhaust exhaust connected to sport mufflers to give it a mean rumble.

In regards to suspension, they added adjustable dampers to the front and rear with a set of lowering springs giving it a 1″ drop all around. It also features tubular rear lower control arms. They upgraded the brakes to a Brembo brakes with 14-inch rotors and four-piston calipers with a Laguna Seca brake duct kit for cooling. In front of those are black 19-inch Track Pack wheels, and the front has a Lagunca Seca adjustable front splitter.

Everything on this new Mustang is available to any 2013 Mustang owner or future owner.

Since their four-day Turkey Rod Run extravaganza, held on Thanksgiving and Iron Bowl weekend, is such a hit, they decided to start a Spring Rod Run. This isn’t a little car show by any means. Both of these shows utilize the Daytona International Speedway and are far from a disappointment.

Of course, it’s not just Mustangs, either, although you can still roll around in Mustang heaven. From rat rods to ridiculous fabricated hippie vans, the show is one for the masses. They even had their own Fiero section, full to the brim of proud Pontiac owners and their Fiero’s stuffed with crazy motors.

Just taking photos of the Mustangs present was enough for it’s own car show. From Super Snakes to rare pace cars, old BOSS 302s to brand new Roush Stage 3′s, this was a show for any Mustang or muscle car lover.

Yep, you read that right. Shelby decided to step it up another notch. Just when you thought that the new GT 500 was the top-of-the-line production performance vehicle with a ground-stomping 650-horses, a whole new level has been unleashed.

Carroll Shelby was able to drive the new GT-500 at the SEMA show in Las Vegas back in November. The guys expected him to have his socks knocked off but when he stepped out, he asked them when a faster Mustang will be in production, a 1000-HP one.  Shelby had a lot to do with this new ‘Stang to grace the Shelby name.

And that’s not all. A non-street-legal model will be released of this very car, the Shelby GT 1000 S/C that will put down a crazy 1,100-HP! Both Shelby 1000 models will feature the Ford 5.4-liter V8 complete with a supercharger. The street version will feature a Kenne Bell supercharger while the track Shelby 1000 will have a Whipple blower.

That’s a lot of power. Shelby-American said they stripped the Ford engine to nothing and redid the cooling system and the cylinder heads. To back it up, Shelby said they added a 9-inch rear end, a stronger driveshaft. The beefed up the suspension and added larger brakes. Also, a new crankshaft was added with connecting rods and pistons. The hood also has a completely functional air inlet.

There will be a limited number of these new Shelby Mustangs and they come at a hefty price. The street model will have a sticker price of $149,995 just for the package. That’s not the cost of the actual Mustang Shelby GT500 that you have to buy. The Shelby GT 1000 S/C package is said to cost about $200,000.

Five of our Mustang Project Cars are caught on camera as a few members of the AmericanMuscle team head out for lunch!

They have to leave the AmericanMuscle.com headquarters in proper form, so they line 5 Ford Mustangs including our 2012 Boss 302, 2012 Mustang 5.0L GT “Project Blackout”, 2011 Procharger Supercharged 3.7L V6, 2007 Mustang GT and 2011 Mustang GT 5.0L Automatic. They lay down some smokey burnouts and a patch of rubber and shreds of tire tread! Luckily, we were shooting inside at the time, and also caught them on our security camera footage.

But history is boring and nobody says it better than Ol’ Man Shelby himself. When asked which is his favorite car, he routinely says “The Next One”. Although recently he pronounced the 2013 Ford Mustang GT500 the best car ever.

Unfortunately, there were no 2013 Mustangs at the Shelby Bash in Las Vegas last weekend, but there were plenty of awesome Mustangs to feast your image hungry eyes on.

The festivities began for most on Wednesday, March 14th, and ran through Saturday, including 2 track days at Spring Mountain Motorsports Ranch in Pahrump, Nevada, about 60 miles south of Las Vegas. Picture, if you will, 8 dozen top shelf Shelby Mustangs and a few Cobras racing around a 3.4 miles race track for 2 days. One of the highlights was the 1966 Mustang  GT350 #136 with a  MAECO Motorsport built 289 CI naturally aspirated vintage prepared engine flogging the track.

Or how about the Ford GT Heritage Edition (uh, that is the Gulf livery) flying around the track on the tail of a 2012 Mustang Shelby GT350. The entertainment was endless.

And speaking of entertainment, Las Vegas local and Shelby aficionado, Jer Gervasi hosted an absolutely outstanding Welcome to Vegas party at the Guitar Center store at the Market Place on the Strip.

Also making its debut at the Las Vegas Shelby Bash was the Bangastang built Hell Snake, which we followed right here on Mustang Evolution. Not only was this car absolutely beautiful in person, the quality was top notch – earning the Hell Snake its first trophy at the Shelby Car Show on Saturday.

So, how about this new color? Here are a lot more photos for you to check out and see if this bold Ford color has you sold!

The exterior has custom painted hood stripes (spears) color in NQ Yellow Blaze with a matching 3D500 Rear Spoiler and MGP rear caliper covers. Behind the front wheels are custom painted front Brembo calipers also painted in NQ Yellow Blaze. The ‘Stang has a Mustang GT Black track pack wheel, MRT rear louvers (soon to be painted UA Black to match the exterior paint). Installed on the front is a RTR Mustang Front Chin Spoiler with Splitter and Roush Mustang Side Rocker Panel Splitters complete with painted mirror covers. Stopping power is provided by an Brembo brake package.

Modifications for the interior include a MGW short throw shifter topped off with a shift knob from Sickspeed and 5.0 floor mats. The suspension is Ford Racing’s handling pack. That’s the list as of now, with a Ford Racing 525HP Whipple Supercharger in the future.
