Most of the rides I see modded are using X pipes. Is there more performance gain from X than straight pipes?

My friends are recommending straight pipes and im not so certain.
Thanks for any help

I've been reading up on dynochart and dynotuning and there's still one question that's been bugging me and I haven't figured out - all of the dynocharts I've seen so far display a number of trial runs or 'pulls'. Each pull has a HP plot and a Torque plot over the same RPM range.

Why does each pull only show one set of HP & TQ plots over the RPM range even though there are multiple shift gears the transmission can be in? Why wouldn't a HP & TQ plot have to be generated & displayed for each gear the car transmission can be in? I'm thinking that the the TQ value at 4000 RPM in 1st gear would be different than the TQ value at 4000 RPM in 2nd gear and so there would be value in measuring and plotting the HP & TQ curves in each gear. For example, I could use those plots to determine the best shift points from gear to gear when driving a manual tranny.

Was wondering if anyone might know the answer to this or be able to correct me if I'm making a faulty assumption somewhere along the way? Is it maybe the case that a dynochart for testing in one gear can be used to represent the HP & TQ curves for any other gear (maybe by throwing in some type of scaling factor) and so one set of HP & TQ curves for a single gear is all the information you really need? When dynotuning is performed and dynocharts are generated, what gear is the car typically put in for testing?

Hey guys - I've been researching different options for the first mod to my new '09 GT. :D Contrary to what most people seem to do, I've settled on not getting a CAI/tune until later down the road (probably 2nd or 3rd mod). I've decided to go for a set of rear gears and driveshaft swap first. Figure the gear swap will require re-calibration of speedometer - this way I don't have to get a custom tune twice (once before gears and once after).

I think I'm set on the FRPP 3.73 gears (4.10s seemed like they might be a bit steep for a daily driver that sees a lot of highway mileage) and have seen a lot of recommendations to just have a Ford dealership put them in right the first time and hopefully reduce the chances of having to bring it back in for gear whine.

Figured since I'd be having the gears changed out, this would be a good opportunity to also swap in an aluminum (or other reliable light-weight) driveshaft. So far I've only checked out the Dynotech driveshaft - I was wondering if anyone else has had good/bad experiences with different driveshafts and/or any other thoughts/recommendations for a complete newbie like me??

Also, do you guys think swapping the stock S197 GT driveshaft with an aluminum driveshaft is something I could do in a driveway with 4 jack stands? I'm looking to do as much work on my own as I can with the tools I've got access to if only for the experience. I've heard changing the driveshaft isn't all that bad. On the other hand, I've read about nightmare experiences trying to change out the rear gears.

I recently bought my first Mustang ('09 GT) / new car / manual trans all in one  - so there's a lotta stuff I'm seeing/hearing that I think might not be quite right but at the same time I don't really have anything to compare with (since this is pretty much my first everything car).

I've been looking through all of the TSB's I can find but I have yet to find one applying to the '09 GTs - do you guys know if there's any reason for this? So far I've only seen TSB's for the '05s and '06s but none for the '09s. I'm finding it hard to believe that ALL of the bugs could have been worked out of the S197's before the '09s came out and without any new issues popping up along the way on later models - or is Ford engineering really just that good :worship:

If any '09 TSB's are indeed out there somewhere could anyone point me in the right direction?

He has a tuner so fixed it... and it makes it look like it has 18s honestly vs 18 inch with the normal tire size I see on 05+ mustangs.
