Painted GT Rims

Does anybody have a pic/photoshopped pic of 99-04 GT rims painted black? I am buying new GT rims, but I want to paint them black (no silver or chrome for me). Thanks.

Only thing I have seen is the black inserts you can put on them. Never seen anyone paint that rim black

I believe you are talking about 99-00 Gt rims as the 01+ are bullits

They made them in 01-03 as well, not sure about 04. You only got the bullitts if you bought the car with the bullitt package. Yeah, I have seen the inserts (where can I get those if I decide not to paint them?) Anybody got a pic or anybody can photoshop them with all black paint? Thanks.

they will look odd black probably but give it a go if you want to go that way, you will have to get them powdercoated, use paint shop to see what your car would look like with them.

Here are pics of my car side view and the rim I want on it painted black. If you want to, get creative with it, because I am undecided how I want them painted.

The body shop that I go to said that they can paint the rims black, $35 a wheel. Does that seem a little too cheap?

Spector, I'm trying to go with a red/black color scheme all over my car, so maybe the black rims may look good? I don't know. We'll have to see!

Here. You decide which of the dark wheels is more correct, it'll depend on how you have them painted and the light in the pic.

Damn, nice PS job! Maybe it'll look better once the rim is actually on and painted? I just want to do something different, but at the same time don't look tacky. There's this Firebird at the college I go to that is red like mine with black rims, and it looks good. Thanks man.

i used Textured Metallic Black on my wheels, rather than gloss black, because gloss black makes it hard to actually see the wheel in the distance

i dont have GT wheels, or even a stang for that matter, but this gives an idea:

WhiteStang, what kind of headlights do you have? I have headlight tint, and the lights I have now aren't as bright as I would like them anymore, and your headlights look just like mine.

^ Haha, I have stock 99 headlights. Those are just headlight covers. I take them off if I'm going any distance at night.

Well in your pic they look blue. Im not talking about the headlight housing, the headLIGHT. Sorry to ask this man, but is it possible if you could lower the car a little with the lighter black rims on it? Thanks man.

What's your opinion on the black rims?

oh, I just have some Xenon crap bulbs from Best Buy. Funny angle on the pic I guess. :dunno: They're slightly better than stock.

Yeah, I'll lower it for you.

I dunno about the black wheels. I was wondering what black wheels like mine would look like the other day, decided they'd look horrible, then saw a pair today that changed my mind. Who knows. I don't think I'd do it if I were you, but I'm a poor college boy too.

Yeah dude, if you could. That looks good though.

Here's how I see it. How many black GT rims do you see? I wanna stand out, but not look tacky, ya know? It'll look a lot better in person IMO.

Ask yourself this then:

Why do you not see many Black Gt Rims?

If you want black really bad then pick you up a set of Black Bullit rims instead. It is what I would do.

I have the same rims you do on my car and I would not try to paint them black.

there is a VERY VERY fine line that you should try to not cross. This line is the line that lies between being different and doing something thats tacky. I dont like the rims, they can be made to look good. They just alwasy look dirty to me and Im OCD about dirt. Dont think about it as being different or standing out... cuz anyone can slap stupid crap on their car and put neons all over it and stand out... but they only get attention that results in "OMG wtf was that ****** thinking" or "what a waste of a car" what ever you do keep in mind that you want the car to LOOK GOOD above all else, being differnet and doing this is not nearly as easy.

I see what you mean. I am looking for everyone elses opinion because im puttin my car in a show i september, and I dont have the money to do black bullitts (139 a piece).

Is there any alternative to put a black accent on the rim then? Im kinda new with the whole wheel thing (sittin on stocker 15s since I bought it). Like paint the inner rim black, where the rim indents like a star formation? Or possibly not paint them black, but more of a deep silver? Any suggestions? Thanks for all the help by the way fellas.

Does anybody know where I can get inserts instead of painting them? I want some sort of black on my rim, but I agree with what you guys say. Also, WhiteStang, could you photoshop it to where just the inner part of the rim is black? (where the GT indents, the inner 5 star formation)

ebay probably has the inserts just make sure they are good inserts and the sellers feedback is really good. Some stickers on ebay tend to be a little crappy and dont fit correctly.
