Deep Dish Front Rims?

So I popped one of my front tires the other day (actually it was more of a rapid deflation than a pop) and I think I may have damaged the rim, seeing as how I drove it deflated for a good ten miles. I also put a pretty nasty looking scratch in my driveway. Oops. See, me being the genius that I am (sarcasm), thought the sudden tendency for the car to pull to the left had something to do with the steering shaft I recently had off. Lol. :

Anywho, back on point. If it turns out that my rim is shot, I think I'm just going to invest in a new set of rims and tires altogether. I'm pretty much set on this style...

Black Deep Dish Bullitt Wheel 94-04 (18x10) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

...with 18X10's in the rear and 18X9's in the front. I also know I want deep dishes in the rear. What I'm having problems deciding on is whether to do the same on the front rims. I don't want my tires to look "mismatched" but, by the same token, I *REALLY* don't want my car to look goofy cuz the front tires are sticking out too far.

Opinions? Thoughts?

Re: Deep Dish Front Rims?

Well for the 94-04 18" bullitts, I think the 18x9's do have a deep dish look to them, it's just slightly narrower than the 18x10 deep dishes. So if you want the deep dish look all around, you can do that no problem. Plus, the deep dish won't look odd in the front, nor will the wheels stick out too much, 17x9 and 18x9 rims usually sit flush or maybe 1/4 to 1/2 an inch past fender at most. My 17x9's do that and I actually like the look.

And if you want the rears to stick out more or flush with the fender, you can always throw a pair of spacers on.

Re: Deep Dish Front Rims?

Why add weight when all you would have to do is buy my 03 Cobra Black chromes drop back 2 and inches and they will look just ask good as 18s with ectra weight and without making your car higher than it already is.

Re: Deep Dish Front Rims?

you need some dish in the front to make the front rims look correct when compared to the back but you should not put the same dish size on the front AND back rims if you are going for a deep dish rear wheel look. My wheels for example have a 2.25 dish in the front (which is more than most "deep dish wheels" on the market... but my rear wheels have a 4 inch dish so the difference *about half* works good in contrast.

Re: Deep Dish Front Rims?

Your rear rims have 4 inches of dish and they're 10" wide? That's sweet!

Re: Deep Dish Front Rims?

Deep dishes on the front looks good, but just deep dishes on the rear helps give a nice staggered look to our cars IMHO.

Re: Deep Dish Front Rims?

Not to start a "mine are deeper than yours" argument here, but my 18x10 Godspeeds have a 5" dish, and are not custom made. Just pointing out that there are extreme dished wheels out there that are standard stock items. BTW Spector, how do you like those Goodrich tires? Are they all-season or a summer compound?

Just for you info I was looking at getting the Gospeeds because of their 5 inch lip which just is amazing but one thing I startes to see in order to make the this possible the actuall spokes are just dont look right because they had to mess with the offset so much and that is why I dint buy them.

they are True Forged brand wheels~ kinda like CCW but these are two piece where CCW are one piece (generally)

Yea, you can get a good dish without custom, most are 2 inches though~ on mine I am at the limit pretty much without modifying the spokes to curve in. The tires are good, I dont have a ton of miles on them but they seem to hook up and ride good for a street tire~

Re: Deep Dish Front Rims?

i'm running 18x9's deep dish up front with 265 40 18's and 18x10's deep dish in the back with 275 40 18's..

Thanks, Spector. Sorry for the delayed response; rotating shift work sucks at my age.

Re: Deep Dish Front Rims?

That it is, but at 12 hours a pop...CammedMystic, did you see the Godspeeds in person, or just pics? Not knocking your taste or opinion, but the wheels really do look awesome on the car. They're actually very similar to SpectorV's wheels; his spokes turn into the dish as well, but maybe not as severely as mine do. Our personal tastes are what makes our cars unique.
