Coming from the world of Nissan Z's I am cluless about the right offset on Mustangs. I plan on running a staggerd setup 285/40/18 & 255/45/18. What offset are best for this setup, I plan on using the Bullit style rim, 18x10 and on the front 18x9.

Here are a couple of good guides for offset and backspacing for mustangs.

If you have a 99-04 mustang, I believe the offset for 18" bullits would be 24mm.
On the 05+ it's much more, 34mm in the fronts, 45mm on rears. I'm guessing it's for an 05+ looking at those tires. Would a 285 be too puffy on the rear? Just wondering, I don't know too much about the 18" tire fitments.

Those are the exact same size tires I'm running on my car, on the same size rims. The 285/40's are about 11.5" wide on a 10" wheel; they look right, not too big and they tuck under the fenderwell lip...barely. The 255/45s on the front fit well on the 9" wheel. I'm running Nitto NT-555 tires. The sizes mentioned are a good combo on the S197 platform. Sonic nailed the offsets, I believe.

94-04 vs 05+ vary. I can tell you what exactly to run on an 94-04 but the 05 plus not 100% on those just yet.

For the 99-04 a near fender flush is what you want so the budge in the tire is fender flush. This is 4.00 front spacing in the rear and 3.00~ in the front. Keep in mind as you lower the car the front rims tuck in thanks to the A Arm design so if you are say 1.5-2.0 inches lower you can push the front out a little more to say 3.25 possibly and be ok~ just something to think about.

You can view images of my rims they are 10 wide in the rear with 6 inch back spacing (means 4 inch front spaced) and the front are 9 wide with a 5.94 back space (3.06 front space). This is perfect IMO.

Only negative side... the rear if lowered will require the fenders to be rolled most likely. Any more than 3.5-3.75 front spacing require this unless you run a narrow tire (aka the wrong sized tire). View my images in the link in my sig and you can see how my rims fit~ most after market ford 18x10s are 3.5 front spaced to keep from having to roll the fenders.

It seems 05-09 mustangs need about a 2.75-2.90 front spaced rim in the rear and about a 2.5 front~ or there about

a 275 on a 10 inch wide rim is FAR FAR FAR (repeat one time (FAR) to narry, you need a 295 wide tire AT LEAST no less for a 10 inch wide tire.

For an 94-04 go wtih a 295/35/18 for a 18x10 rim or you can push it to a 305 if you wish.

+1. i am running 275 40 18's for the moment but plan on getting 295 35 18's when the nitto's wear down. i still spin with the 275 40's. so i would definitely go with those 295's. my car is dropped 2.5" and my 275's clear no problem. just be sure if you do drop your car as low as mine, that u roll the quater panels so u don't scrape the sidewalls.
