Re: tires for lower rpms?

well it kinds reverses the whole part of putting 3.73 gears in your car~ removes the benefit you gained by gears as tire also alter gear ratio~ you would need a taller tire to pull it off, you would have to find the overall circumference of the tire and figure out revolutions per mile vs stock and then you can find how much lower it will make the rpms.

Re: tires for lower rpms?

Get a programmer and manually adjust for tire size and spark for that rpm range

Re: tires for lower rpms?

In a 5 speed manual, you will need roughly a 30" tire to achieve roughly 2037 rpms. This is with a .75 5th gear. In an auto you will need a 27" tall tire to achieve roughly 2037 rpms. This is with a .7 4th gear ratio.

With that said, a 30" tire would be 245/60/18 or 245/65/18 tire. If you went wider to say a 265 series tire, you would be looking at a 265/55/18 or 265/60/18 tire. 275 series would be a 275/55/18 tire. A 27" tire would be 245/50/18, 265/45/19, or 275/40/18.

I used the following sites to come up with said tire sizes:

Tire size calculator: Tire size calculator
RPM calculator: Engine RPM Calculator ( use the bottom section that asks for rear end gear, tire height, tranmission gear, and MPH)
