Need some help for high hp tires.

Figured this was as good of a place as any to ask. Ok, my roommate has a Z28 with a built LT4. He's putting around 340 to the ground at the moment. He's doing a full rebuild with twin turbo's this summer and we're trying to figure out something he can put on there for traction. This is his dd, so we need something that will handle water as well. He has 275's all the way around right now, and they're some pretty hard compound tires, and light up at the blip of the throttle. Just trying to figure out what to go with. He really doesn't wanna do with dr's unless water traction is alot better with a certain type.

Re: Need some help for high hp tires.

If he's putting down 340 now and about to do twins... he's gonna need some 315 DR's to have anything that could possibly be compared to some sense of "traction". No street tire is gonna put that much power down to the ground without going up in smoke.

The good thing is drag radials aren't quite as bad as some people make them out to be in the rain. Although I don't think I'd want to drive around in the rain w/ a built V8 w/ twin turbos no matter what kind of tires I had...

Re: Need some help for high hp tires.

Haha, the way it is right now on hard compound street tires, it sucks, can't launch at all. I keep telling him DR's are the way to go...but he won't do it. He's moving in with his uncle this summer, and building the car up there. His uncle built a DOHC 5.4 twin screw T56 01 GT a few years back, heck of a car. I guess we'll just have to learn how to drive it without spinning..if that's possible.

I try to drive it as much as I can...lol. I'm sorry...but 180hp v6 auto vs 340hp LT4 6 spd...there isn't much choice in which car to take out.

Re: Need some help for high hp tires.

I'm just not a big goodyear fan after what I went through with the eagle rs's that came stock on my car. Tread life was non existant on those, I'd hate to see it on a set of F1's.
