Re: i need brake help

I recently bought rotors/pads from RotorPros on ebay. IIRC, Hottcobra and Purevenom recommended them to me last summer. I bought the v6/GT package and they've done great so far. The pricing is amazing, and you can order the rotors to be slotted, dimpled, drilled, or have the hub centers painted (I had mine painted black). I think I paid around $230 for all four pads and rotors last july...I think they include Hawk pads in the package now.

Just something to keep in mind...they've performed well so far and haven't shown any signs of wear, cracking, or failure.

Re: i need brake help

If you do it yourself you're best off just buying new rotors. Rotors and pads should be under a hundred bucks. It would cost about $250 to get it done at a shop. (Because brake shops are a rip-off!)

Re: i need brake help

I personally would decide to upgrade to cobra brakes or keep the stock.

either way go OEM rotors for long life and quality (make sure they are the oem ones)

If you go with a cobra setup you can probably do it all rather cheap.

calipers - 200 (with brake pads)
rotors - 200
brake lines (cheap)

Question Re: i need brake help

I think I need some brake help too. I recently did my front brakes (This is the second time I've done them on this Mustang) and I've also done the rears. The first time I got brand new cross drilled and slotted rotors and ceramic pads, I put them on and everything has been great until a couple of weeks ago. I decided to do them again because they have been feeling a little squishy. So I had the rotors machined, got new ceramic pads and power bled the whole system exchanging all the old fluid for fresh brake fluid, but now they don't feel any better. I inspected all the lines and master cylinder, but I don't see any leaks.

The brake pads were a different brand then what I used before, and I noticed that they were a lot harder to install and they barely fit into the caliper with the clips that were already on the caliper. Any thoughts?

I figured it out, I removed the clips from the caliper and cleaned them till they looked like new. I also used more brake lube then I did before.

Re: i need brake help

If you want to do it as cheap as possible and have decent brakes go OEM. Motorcarft or something from Ford. Avoid those $99 all 4 installed etc they are rip off $700 later. I learned that on the last car.
