I need tires maybe rims...

NO I do not abuse my tires. They have nearly 40k on them and they STILL have tread, but... they will soon be in need of replacing. I expect to get another 6k maybe 9k out of them depending~

I like the brand and the size (Yokahoma AVS ES100 in 275/40/17 all around) but I would like to upgrade the backs to something wider. I know this is a NO NO if you like tire life since you can not rotate. I dont plan to make this my daily driver after I get a good job (which I am looking for currently)

I think im going to go with some 315 BFG DR's (they look very nice) but... I cant decide if I want 17s or 18s (I want 18s they are just expensive). As it currently stands I cant get traction in first taking off or seconds, or third really. And if I down shift to 2nd at 40-45mph ... forget about it so I need a bit more hooking out back as well.

Rims I am considering:

17 inch line
-----------
OEM 17x9 and 17x10.5 chrome 03 cobra rims

18 inch line
-----------
FR500s with deep dish rims out back (18x9 and 18x10 or 10.5)
2003 Cobra rims in 18s (18x9 front and 18x10.5 rear)
SSR GT3 rims VERY expensive...
BBS plasmas also expensive...
Roush stage 3 18's

any other rims you think I should consider

No comments on the rims, but, on the tires....If you go with the BFG 315's, you will have to do one of two things. You will need to either file down some IRS bolt or get wheel spacers in order to fit without tire rub. That was the reason I went with the Nitto's...they are the only 315 that people have used that have fit without any issues.

Obviously, this could be a moot point if you get new rims that have a different backspacing than stock....but just an FYI for you. I believe the AFS 10.5" rim had wheel rub with the 315 BFGs.

Re: I need tires maybe rims...

The reason the BFGs will rub and the nittos wont is becaues BFGs run larger than the stated size, and Nittos run smaller. For example, a Nitto 315 is about equal to a BFG 295mm wide tire. Why? Who knows. As for the rims... 18s would look great, but you take a huge jump in tire price going to 18s. Also with 18s you have less sidewall, giving less flex, and even less traction.

From what I hear, filling that bolt down isnt too hard... and if you dont do it, youll need that 1/2" spacer. IMO a 1/2" spacer with a 10.5" wide wheel looks retarded, but thats just me.

I guess I should play the devil's advocate and mention that the BFG drag radials are only gonna give you around 6k miles before they're gone...

Yet another reason people run Nittos. I got at least 15k miles out of mine. That's with taking them to the track twice and doing nice, long burnouts every pass. Not to mention one hell of a burnout I did in Center Star one morning...

You may want to hold off on the BFGs until you don't have to drive it everyday.

As for rims, I'd either stick with the 03 Cobras (in whatever size you choose) or spring for the Roush rims.
