Sizes

All right it is time to get new tires (which is a good excuse to get new rims as well). I was thinking of putting 20X8.5 in the back and 18X9 in the front. You guys think that the 20s would look too big and make the 18s look too small? The rims are Magnum 500 style and they don't have 17s which I really want with the 18s in back. Or should I just do 18s all around? Let me just tell you Im not that big on rims over 19, so tell me your honest opinion.

Re: Sizes

Honest opinion, I'd stay with the same size all around. I like 18's or larger on the S197's, the larger appearance of that particular body style just begs for the larger rims. I'd go with 18x9's in the front and 18x10's in the rears...you won't be disappointed.

You could go 20's all around, but if you're not a fan of the larger rim, don't get them, plus they are heavy as hell and tires are expensive.

Re: Sizes

Yeah your right then again I didn't think about possible problems with ABS with two different sizes. So I think I'm going 18s all around.

Re: Sizes

Yah there's that, and you can't rotate them either...20's in the front and 18's in the back wouldn't work, lol.

Then again if you get staggered 18's you won't be rotating them either.

Re: Sizes

The only way to get staggered rims for the style I want would be going to the 20s and I really don't want that. Unless anyone knows another company that sells magnum 500 style rims for the S197?

Re: Sizes

hmm I dont like staggered looks, but the new GT500 with the SVT package I think has like 19s front/20s rear.

I personally would keep it all the same, if its an 05+ 18s wont look very big UNLESS you go with a tire for a 94-04 and adjust it with the tuner to calibrate for a smaller sidewall (making the rims look bigger, and it does work my friend has my old 17s on his 08 and they look bigger than his stock 17s with the stock size tires)
