Groan to my car

All tires need to be replaced.

3 have hardly any tred left, and the one that I just got already has a nail in it.

sweeeeeeeet......

well the stock ford tires suck *** anyway. Any recommendations? And if anyone wants you could throw this to the Tire section of the forum, I don't mind

Re: Groan to my car

I went through 2 sets of stockers before 50k. Put on some toyo tpt's for the last 26k, they're bald now...definitely better than the badyears.

nitto DRs on your rears.. will last about 12-13k miles before you have issues with them in the rain.. I could punch it in the '02 in the rain.. and they'd hook

Re: Groan to my car

I recommend toyo's, they're a little pricey. But I did drag racing, autoxing and a few burnouts here and there on them. The only downside is..once they're gone, they're gone, no traction at all. They are 400 treadwear rated and M+S rated.

Re: Groan to my car

i dont know how you go though tires so fast unless they are POS tires. My yokahomas have nearly 40k if not 40k on them and my kumo (shutter) previous tires had nearly 40k before I replaced them... and the ones before that got nearly 50k...

Re: Groan to my car

A part of me wants to get the Rim+Tire special this guy has on eBay, and he's sold a lot of them at great prices and he's highly recommended. But I dunno if I should or not.

You don't autox and probably aren't quite as spirited as I am on the street. Driving styles make a huge difference. Hence the reason I just bought some 20 dollar tires for the 16's and going big bucks on the 18's. 16's for the track, 18's for looks.

Re: Groan to my car

look at the wheel/tire article its all listed. go cheap on stock small tires its pointless to try to make a narrow tire perform good.

Re: Groan to my car

yeah... the GT enjoys 9" wide rims... I'm sure a 10"-10.5" rear rim would work out very well in the v-6... to keep you from spinning tires and such. Believe it or not, if I'm going in a straight line... the GT doesn't like peeling them out for all that long... it just seems to help pull right out of it... I love it.

It's the whole 100 dollars for mounting and balancing and 100 bucks for alignment holding me back.

You try having someone mount and balance 275's on 18 inch rims..they'll say at least 20 a wheel.

And alignment is about 85 bucks with tax at this shop. But they do damn good work and warranty the alignment for 12 months.

You don't need an alignment with new wheels. The steering angles won't change unless you change ride height or strut mounting positions. And you'd only need a 2 wheel alignment anyway which should be cheaper.

I need an alignment b/c my car is lowered 1.5 inches. I thought I had it pretty close after my self alignment with the c/c plates. I was wrong, pretty bad wear on my tires right now, but they're bald so I'm gonna put the new wheels/tires on and get the alignment then. Yes I know I only need a 2 wheels alignment, you can't exactly align a solid rear without some help. Thanks for the concern though, I know what I'm doing.

Well find me a decent shop around here that will do that. All the shops within a 45 minute drive of me want at least 20 a piece.

I think I paid ~$60 for mount and balance (255/40/17 and 275/40/17 on 17x9s) and $35 for alignment.

:dunno:

Well then god damnit, maybe I should drive elsewhere in the country and spend 300 bucks on gas to get my tires mounted and alignment. Seems to me I live in the hell hole of the world as far as prices go.

sweet, i cant wait till rainy season again.

are you really looking for performance tires like everyone is listing, or just replacements?

id just go down to sears and get some decent ones on the rear, and cheapies up front, like i did with my Tbird. dont need to be anything special.
