Cougar XR7 Styled Steels for my 'Stang?

I'm 95% sure these will fit being the Cougar shares a lot of its underneath bits with the Mustang. My grandpa's friend is restoring a 1967 Mercury Cougar XR7 and he is putting a beefier suspension and large disk brakes (need to stop the 600 hp this thing will make when he's done!) and the wheels won't fit over the new brakes. They have BRAND NEW 8" Mastercraft tires and I'd be getting this set (5 rims and tires) for pretty cheap. These will fit right?

They're in tip-top shape. He had just refinished them. They look new. (and they will come with the chrome rings for outer edge of the rim)

And what mustang would you be putting these on?

If it's a 1964 1/2 or 65 6 cylinder coupe or vert then yes. Those cars could pull it off.

Any other mustang in existence would not look good with them imo.

If it is a 1964 1/2 or 65, you'd have to check the backspacing and offset. Or carefully try and put them on. Don't torque anything down unless you're 100% positive they'd fit.

Re: Cougar XR7 Styled Steels for my 'Stang?

Yah I guess the 66 could pull if off. Not my first choice of wheels but if the price is right...why not.

I did a quick search and the 66 has a 5x4.5 bolt pattern with a max backspacing of 4.25.

So if you can find out the backspacing of the cougar then you should be able to figure whether they'll work or not. My guess would be that they would...the cougar was a similar platform to the mustang and a lot of those pony car sized platforms shared same size components.
