I'm Torn & Need Opinions

Okay so my main decision right now is what wheels to go for. I'm looking hard into the FR500 rims. But the Saleen's catch my eye also. Might be because that's what my brother had on his GT and has a set of downstairs if I want to buy them.. but for some reason the more I look at the FR500's the harder the decision gets.

The other choice I'm trying to make is if I should go chrome or hypercoated.. any opinons?

Re: I'm Torn & Need Opinions

it all depends on budget, if 1k-1500 wheels/tires is what you want then those sound great, if you can afford more you can get something more custom~ but under 2-3k for rims only Ford has the best sets to choose from.

Re: I'm Torn & Need Opinions

I think your ride would look bomb with either style wheel man. Your color works with hypercoated and chrome.

18's are the best size wheels for 99-04's, and I'd definitely consider spending the little bit extra to get 10" wide rears...the staggered look is well worth the money spent.

I'm debating between these two styles. I'm not going to go too overboard and get something custom. But the longer it takes me to decide the more money I save, lol

I agree, that's why it's so hard for me to decide. I don't think I'd go thicker in the rear simply because it is only a 6 banger.. ya know?

Definitly the saleen, saleens would work with the color of the car while still having the flashy chrome look. it'll be like a complement

I think any of them would look great also. I always had a spot for the FR500 wheels just never had the right car to put them on.

Keep us posted on what you go with and post up some pics of it done

I think both pairs would look great. I'm kinda considering the FR500's because they are more busy, and you dont see as much behind the rim. I kinda like that. As far as chrome goes, Hypercoat is sick too. It looks chrome in the sun but like a dark silver in the shade. Which I think would look real nice on my car for the following reason. When the suns out the metal flake in my car is shining and really showing, and the sun will also make the Hypercoated rims look chrome. So both shine. When it's in the shade, the car looks more like a dark gray color, as would the rims. So both sides of the rim really match my car.

Unless I'm wrong about the hypercoated rims, can someone clarify that or correct me who actually has a pair.

No problem Gixxer, it won't be for awhile that I get these. I'm still waiting on tints that I should get Wednesday if all goes well. Then the saving for the wheels starts!

Re: I'm Torn & Need Opinions

Great choices. Because of the color of your car I would go with the FR500's.
I like the anthracite and black chrome myself over the hypercoated. I think that the FR500's go well with Mustangs that have some kind of darker pieces on the car (tint, smoked, black...)
The Saleen wheels look great too but I like them on brighter colored Mustangs.

I prefer the fr500, a guy in town has the hypercoat and they look good. When he is driving they shine like chrome but when he stops you take a double look at the wheels. I also prefer the deep dish off set. I understand what you're saying about the sixer and not wanting the wide rears but they add so much to the appearance. I don't think you will feel much strain if that's what you're worried about.
I have fr500 on my 04 and they look great. I like the saleen but te deciding factor for me was the deep dish more aggressive look.

Anthracite in the sun glisten too. Do not forget to look in to getting them staggered. 10.5" or 10" in the back.

keep in mind what looks great on one car can not look good at all on another, the cars setup, body style, and color all come in to factor the look

Anyone have a close up of anthracite vs hypercoat? What is the major difference? I think both look great on silver/Gray cars.

Exactly my thought. I'm leaning towards fr500 the more I look at them.

I agree, and see what youre saying. However I'm not a fan of deep dish. I need to think about the wide rears though.

That's what's helping my decision. The unique look.

Re: I'm Torn & Need Opinions

FR500. And staggered is good too. Since they don't make a supercharger for most V6s it would not be needed, but I have seen some superchargers out there, and there are turbos. Still the staggered is more looks than need, but still awsome none the less. But this is just my uneducated car knowledge guess.

I'm a fan of the 2003 cobras or the 99 cobras. 18's are hard to find right now though.

Re: I'm Torn & Need Opinions

I'm going with the FR500 Hypercoated wheels. Not doing the staggered look and keeping them the same all around. Thanks for everyone's opinion and I will post pics once everything is bought and equipped. I have a few other things to take care of first, so don't hold your breath for the 'FINALLY GOT MY FR500'S' thread.. lol

Thanks again to all the posters!

I might cancel my tints and get the wheels first. My window has been giving me issues and this is the 2nd week I had to cancel a tint appointment. I'd rather take that money and put it towards the FR500's. IDK.. It's been 3 weeks without a mod and I'm itching for something!

Re: I'm Torn & Need Opinions

I have no tint except for the factory tinting. My goal is, headers, GT conversion front end, Ford Performance conversion x pipes, wheels, suspention, and that is it I think. Or i might just keep it stock (except for the BBK intake i have) and save for the 2012 Cobra.

Okay, figured I'd ask this before going any further.

Are these antharicite or hypercoated?

They look anthracite to me. The hypercoat looks like a dark chrome.

If I had any other color car I'd get the black chrome.. but look at that pic I just posted. Those rims look bangin' on mineral gray. I gotta do it!
