plastic dip wheels

So I used the plastic dip and painted my wheels. Well I didn't, my hubby did lol and it turned out really really well. We will see how they hold up in the upcoming weeks. But its an inexpensive way to dress up your current wheels! $5.98/can at lowes and it took about 2 cans!

Re: plastic dip wheels

the weight should be on the inside part of the rim so it is not visible. makes the rim look better

Re: plastic dip wheels

When having your wheels balanced, "hidden weights" are supposed to be used. Its shameful on the part of the shop who did it, and very unprofessional thats all.
Clarify something for me- Is plastic dip the stuff you spray onto hand tools ect. to coat them? Looks good, your hubby did a smooth spraying job.

Ok ok I see geesh! Lol. I was just educated. Thank you. Haha. I didn't even know what weights did. Now I know. I don't know who put them on like that. It was like that when I bought it and I've only had it two months. Problem is fixed now! Lol.

yes... but they will have to remove the weights you painted over. so then there will be a spot unpainted...

Re: plastic dip wheels

This is the second thread where I have read the term "Plastic Dipped". So it's a spray paint? And does it come in different colors?

Well they don't hold up too well in a car wash. I took my car through the car wash and they have the conveyer belt that pulls u through it. I think that got mu wheel when u pull into the bumpers. I mean all the paints still on but there are places where it is peeling.

I used this stuff to black out containers for hydroponic growing of plants on my desk at my office. The stuff was awesome and it was called Plasti Dip at Lowe's. Didn't know people could use it as rim touch up.

I would think that a long road trip or heavy braking would cause enough heat to bubble that coating.

It's resistant to heat. I've already did a long distance trip and nothing. And I heavy break more then less haha
