Painting wheels?

I want black wheels really badly... Eventually I'll spring for some black Bullitts with the chrome lip in a staggered set.... For now though I'm stuck with my garden variety Bullitts. Which I can totally live with.. But I can't help but wonder what exactly is involved with painting rims? What kind of paint would I need to get- (I want them shiny black) Do they need some kind of primer? How hard is this to do, and after I'm done would it look totally ghetto? Any advice, tips, etc would be greatly appreciated. Couple pics of what they look like now below.

Re: Painting wheels?

i painted mine, you can tape off the edges to get a bullitt lip if you'd like! I used head light tint for a non glare stealthy look, but if you want glossy black just zip down to your autozone and pick up two cans of glossy black rim paint.

I dropped my car in the school parking lot (there is no shade around my house and that was the only spot haha!) i jacked the stallion up and popped off one wheel at a time all by myself, with the stuff i used you didnt need to tape off the tires, but im not sure about normal rim paint. i just did about 2-3 coats on each rim, no you dont need primer, but Be sure to realllyyyy wash down those rims 100% from all angles and wipe them down with i microfiber. Get them so clean you can eat off them!

i did it all in 4 hours, and keep and extra car on hand in case you need to get something outside of the house, i put my rims on wet which was mission impossible, but i had some of the football team help me out.
be sure to keep your alarm off because mine went off with every rim i painted, really annoying after a while when your pouring sweat in 120 degree heat.

PS. you will get extremely dirty it took me 3 showers to get the grease off me!

I'm really thinking about it... Is it easy to get the little center cap off and on again?

Oh I very carefully taped mine off, had no problems with it.
