Tire options

Okay, really needing some tires.
I have a set of 17x9 03/04 Cobras that came with my donor car.
Look great, but the 10+ year old Drag Radials on the back are really starting to scare me... And the fronts aren't too great either.
The rears are 245x45x17 and the front are 275x40x17s.
The 245s are too small for the rim, so I'm thinking the correct size is 275x40. Basically I'm looking for all four new tires, and these size tires are NOT cheap. Where do you guys go to get tires? I'm looking for the best deal, and it looks like walmart has the cheapest option.
The Nexen N3000 tires runs $112 ea, which is the cheapest I've seen of any tire in my size. I've never heard of Nexen, but the tire doesn't sound too bad. Has a W speed rating, whatever that means.

Re: Tire options

How is the traction with the Nexens? Are you using the N3000?

Can't speak too much on traction as I don't bang on mine too often, mines an auto with only a few mods power wise. No issues in the rain though. On my 93 tune it will chirp 2nd sometimes third. But even on a wet road spinning is not a major issue at all for me.

Re: Tire options

That's exactly what I needed to know, thanks.
So, your fronts are 245s? I'm just curious, why put thinner tires than the rear?

Cost mainly, as wider in the rear can cause under steer. There are rub marks on the a-arm where maybe mine have been rubbing with wider tires.
