larger rims and tires help!

O back a while ago I put used ford bullits on my 2000 v6. The bullits are 17s and my old rims were 15s. How much would my speedo be off at 65 mph? Do I need to go fatser or slower than what the speedo reads? Like if I'm going 65 mph would I need the speedo to read below 65 or around 70 mph?

You need the tire sizes in order to calculate speed diff. The actual tire height is the key.

Yeah you don't want to be riding on unbalance tires

You are fine. the mustang calls for a 245 45 17s. your speedo will not be off any.

At 60 on the new tires you would actually be going 60.4. So you should be fine.

Re: larger rims and tires help!

Sometimes what you gain in wheel and lose in tire turn out to be the same and doesn't affect the Speedo.

If you have a iPhone. Download an app called tiresizer. You can input current size and then the size you want, it'll tell you how far off the speedo will be as well as revs per mile, which you need to know for a tuner.
