How to get chrome off of the rim?

When I naught my car the chrome rims were in bad shape, I need to know how to get the chipping chrome off of them :0 I know a sandblaster would work but I don't have one. I looked around would rubbing alcohol work??

you may can find a local refinisher of wheels, they can acid dip them and it will remove all of it and leave it bare metal~
