17 or 18s then what size a tire

I'm stuck on what I want for my new rims. Either 17 staggered black cobra wheels, or saleens. I like the cobras and being 17s I can put a wider tire in the rear than what I could put on an 18" rim. How big of a tire can you put in the rear to fill up the rear? Need a very aggressive staggerd look. Any pictures with cobra wheel, and saleens? Staggered?

Hey man my buddy had some 18's on his 01 convertible. Lowered looked sick. He had 18x10 on the rear and 18x9 might have been 17's but it looked sooo sick.

---------- Post added at 11:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 11:51 PM ----------

Actually they were 18x10.5 and 18x9

Lol cool name! The only thing that worries me with 18's is the low tire profile look I want meat on my tires. Some nittos at that I like what Cole Johnson has on his the rim size and the tires.

That's true he didn't really play with his his was more of a show car you could prob do 17's that wide and that would give u more Clarence for tire

---------- Post added at 12:41 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:40 PM ----------

Go with 18's. I feel 17's are a tad bit small. And with 18's you can put a fat tire on the rim. I have 18's with 305's in the back look badass

I totally agree on the 18's what u would lose in height in the tire u can make up with the width

I had 17" bullits on my 04 with 315's. Was badasss! Saleen wheels are awesome though of coarse I say, can't go wrong either way. Saleens are a sportier wheel though then say the deep dish. So depends what you're looking for :/ Tbh, I'm not a fan of the cobras though. 17 " bullits are better imo even though everyone has them.

Remember that 18'' tires are a bit more expensive than 17s and also 17s have more tire options than 18s when it comes to drag radials if you race it. I had a set of 17x11 cobras on my 2v with 315 nitto 555rs. My friend has saleens with 305 and they look good.

Re: 17 or 18s then what size a tire

These are staggered saleens.. 18x9/10 with 295s on the rear 265s front

From what I've seen so far... Usually the widest they go with 18x10 is 295... For 17x10.5, 315s look the best.

The widest I have seen is 305s on the 18x10 my friend ran a et street radial 305 wide and it looks good. But for the 17x10.5 315s are the best.

Is the car you posted in those pics lowered? If so how much. I wanna put 18s on my car and I'm not sure what tire width is going to fit without roller my fender.

Re: 17 or 18s then what size a tire

for 94-04:

17x8 - 245/45/17 (or for a bit more rim protection 255/45/17)
17x9 - 275/40/17
17x10 - 295/40/17

18x8 - 255/35/18
18x9 - 275/35/18
18x10 - 295/35/18 (or up to a 305 wide tire)

all this is about right, some tire brand run differently so its never a perfect 100% fit always FYI.

What rims would fit and perform best?

alright..back on the prowl... -___- Need those rims...How much does each rim cost? Also...I have a discount at work with Falken tires..So I don't need the tires on them.
