TPMS sensor ??

I want to buy rims and tires in a package deal..Let me know from your experiences ya and na if you got the TPMS sensors installed or not. And pros and cons
They are kind of pricey, so I guess want to know what I will be looking at if I don't buy them

Don't have the sensors on my rims. If you don't mind the yellow warning light on the cluster don't worry about getting the sensors. I plan on getting the sensors later on in the future but I'm not in any rush

The light will probably drive you crazy. Get the sensors. Easier to sell the car to if the tpms light isn't on.

The bands are $40 and the valve stems will run about $150

Re: TPMS sensor ??

I bought aftermarket tire pressure sensors from AmericanMuscle.com to go with my new rims, which I had ordered from HoweyIndustries. I had the guys at my local auto place install the sensors, but they couldn't get the tire pressure warning light to disappear from the dashboard. Apparently the sensors needed to be recalibrated. So, I went to Ford the next weekend, but they couldn't recalibrate them. They recommended that I call AmericanMuscle because there's a chance that the sensors might be defective. So, I gave them a call, and learned that these aftermarket sensors are not compatible with the training tool that Ford uses for recalibration.

So, sue me.... This was all a learning process for me.

So, I had to buy the training tool from AmericanMuscle that would actually work on these particular sensors. Hopefully now I can get things taken care of next weekend.... Haha

Dang that sucks. I wonder if I need to put that tool on my build list along with the bands and stems

Just get oem sensors and you won't have to worry about the relearning tool.

Re: TPMS sensor ??

I recall my local Ford dealership giving me a quote of $100 for each sensor. The ones from AmericanMuscle were $39.99 each, including the training tool for another $45.

So you can just buy the sensors and not the bands or do you need both sensors and bands?
