Rim/Tire Question

Hey ya'll i'm wondering about my rims i got along with my car as a gift earlier this year. I haven't not the knowledge as most of you with rims/tires so i'm looking for a perfect staggered set to buy for my 03 GT. Currently they're on a staggered set but I'd like it to look more meaner and have performance. The fronts are 225/45/17 and rear is 245/45/17 all 4 Nexen N3000's. I'm wondering what should I get for my stang. The rims i can't quite identify but i have some pics for you to look at. Help is much appreciated! Thanks!

they are 95 Cobra R style, and the lug area is smaller than the newer design (the newer design works with 4 lug and 5 lug design as the ones you have wont work with 4 lug (there isnt enough room in the middle to drill 4 lugs).

That means you have the better looking ones! lol and probably a bit older but the condition looks good. If they were OEM ford they would have a serial number on the face on one spoke around the same area where the air nozzle is. I dont see it so they are probably just aftermarket, not that it matters.

most all are 9" wide so the tires you have are WAY to narrow you should be running a 274/40/17 tire all around, that will make it look much meaner and you can rotate.

the rear MIGHT be 10.5 wide, but a 245 should not even fit on a 10.5 wide, I am betting they are 17x9 all around. You dont see that style any more, you only see the new uglyer style where the center area is fatter as I said above. I used to have an OEM ford set in chrome with the Cobra R center caps. You also seem to have ford center caps so those are not cheap either

That's good news. I didn't see any serial numbers when i took a second look at them so they must be if said so which i don't mind! The previous owner which was my dad's friend had it in pretty good shape the years he owned it and ended up selling it to my dad which was passed down to me as a gift. I'm barely taking a look around seeing what's aftermarket and what's not. As of now, i'm trying to bring it back to life and look as mean as it sounds but what you're saying is that i should get 274/40/17's to have it look mean. I was wondering if i could even make it past 255's but just imagining the 274's seems so beastly in my head lol.

a 9 wide rim needs at least a 275 wide tire else the tires look stretched, the key question is how wide the rims are, you can measure them to see using the inside by the spoke. I bet they are 9 wide. My front tires are 275's on a 9 wide, click my album to see how they fit. The rears are 295s on a 10 wide for comparison.

Every tire maker is different there is no standard... but generally 275's are the same width

every 25.4mm = 1 inch fyi.

I just measured them. Looks to be 10. Now that I look at it more, It does look stretched. More in the front cause they're 225.

yea if the front/rear are different then the 9 wide (probably front) should be 275/40/17 and the rear is probably 10.5 inches and they should be 295/40/17s or a 305/35/17 wide~ mine are 10 wide in the rear and the 295 fits just right.

i dont see 10 wide on the front as that would cause major issues for one, very odd. I would bet 9 wide from 10.5 rear but if you got the right measurement out back its very odd to be 10 front lol hmmmmm

Hmm well maybe i'm measuring them wrong or something cause it comes out the same. I'm doing some tire shopping and i think i'm def going with some nitto nt555's all 275. Would that be good? Or should I be looking for a better tire. I also see the $_$ on my eyes when looking at them. Lol
