Plastidip wheels

I have looked into plasti dipping my wheels. I plan on doing them next week. I also got a glossifier for them as well. So they will not be flat black. I am also going to be painting the calipers red. Has anyone plasti dipped their wheels and how well does it stay on?

I did my challenger about 4 months before I traded it in... Held up real good... My mustang has been done for about 3 months... Holds up really well... Has not peeled off at all.. Looks the same as day one...

I used an entire can per wheel, took each wheel off, cleaned with soap and water and sprayed... Inside and out... I did not use the glossifier...

Sweet! Have you taken it through a carwash at all? I have used it on a couple emblems and no pealing. I wanted mine to match the paint and be glossy. Black gloss and flat black rims I don't think would look that good.

No I did not tape the tires off... The plasti dip will rub off the tire once dried... Usually all in one rubbery piece...

Challenger was taken thru car washes... Mustang no, I wash it by hand... I spray griots tire wash on the wheel, rub with the sponge, and then rinse with the power wash wand at the car wash... No issues so far...

Did you remove the faux-gas cap and pony badge to dip them?

No I kept them both on. I just put a bunch of news paper around them. The pony was easy. Since grille was black I just put paper behind the pony so it wouldn't get on the radiator and sprayed it. The oval was a little bit longer of a process.

I think that it would look fine if you put plasti dip on it. With the curb rash I doubt it will cover it up. It will just make it a little harder to see depending on how bad it is.

Yeah it will peel off of the chrome. I'm pretty sure it will peel off of anything you put it on.

No I ment will the chrome stick to the plasti dip cause it's pitted and I don't want the chrome to come off with the plasti dip?

I have seen about 4 coats is what people have been doing. They say about a can a wheel or so. Maybe a little less than a can.

Looks good bud! Can't wait until I do mine. I am actually sitting by the door now waiting for my plasti dip and gloss to come in. I decided I wanted to go glossy with my black instead of flat black.
