Widest tire for base 18x8 wheel?

Can I fit 255/45's on my base 18x8 wheels? Just want to make sure this isn't too wide before placing my order...

I would go by the manufacturer's recommendation since there are a lot of factors and, believe it or not, not all tires are perfectly true to the size they should be.

We can fit 275 on 17x8 so I don't see why not

With 17x8 you have a bit more sidewall to work with. I don't see many 275s fitting on 18x8s since I could barely find any to fit on 18x9s.

Op, please check the manufacturer specs for tires. This will tell you what will fit abd what won't. It will only take seconds of research.

On an 8' rim I would recommend a 255 at the most

I went with the 255's and it's noticeably wider and drastically improved traction. If I were you I wouldn't go any wider than this...I think there would be too much sidewall bulge.

I put removed my stock 235-50-18's and replaced them with nitto's 255-45-18 because it is very close to the stock height and I believe it is the widest tire that could be mounted on the stock rims.

What gear are you running? The stock 235/50/18 is like 27.25 dia which with 3.73's or 4.10's will have you shifting into 5th in the 1/4. 28in tall for 3.73's 27 for 3.55's and 26 for 3.31's is ideal. I have 27.03 dia with 3.31's and its a TURD!

I'm running the 255/45/18's with 3.31's also...does that little bit of height make that big of a difference?

Look at it this way, 280 is 11 inches, so 275 is just 5 mm under 11 inches, and your wanting to put these on an 8 inch rim? That will distort the sidewalls.
