Width make that much difference?

Hey guys what's more important in past experiences with you guys? Width of tire? Radial? Brand and compound? Does a 315/35 tire ACTUALLY grip a lot better than the smaller 275/40 tire? Or does the bigger tire only make a noticeable difference when on the huge torque and horsepower cars? Thanks guys!

The. Wider tire will bite a bit more but you have to remember that a lot of that grip is dependant on the weight pressing it into the pavement. So he wider tire spreads that out more. Compound is so important. I would go up in compound before up in width. That said a stickier tire wears out faster and is less forgiving at its limits.

I have to say the Micky Thompson's Street tires are amazing. The 265 stock perelli;s i had versus the MT's 265's is crazy difference. Different compound and a little wider. but you pay for it.
