So - do I need a new tire

I hit a curb at Chick Fil A. Dammit! Fortunately the wheel did not get a scratch.

Damn you got super close to the wheel. It may be fine but you should get a new tire anyway.

Is it leaking? A little Purple and Gold would look really good on your Tang.

Any way if its a front tire get a new tire. you can see the tire thread in the pic. a blown tire could make you loose control and put you and others at risk. the tire is very thin so even at the rear chances are it will give out soon, quicker if you hit a pot hole in the street. Change it unless you can find a way to seal it.

I have in our truck before, but it has such beefy tires that there is no rash at all on any wheel, and no chunks taken out..... It's all been on purpose though, I go over many curbs in the truck.
