Rim size

What is the preferred rim size to fit a 315 tire on it

10.5 would be the smallest I would go

Depends on the tire. Nitto generally runs narrow so a 315 Nitto I would put on a 10". Now a BFG I would put a 295 on a 10.5".

Have to look at the real specs of the tire instead of the aspect width.

They do stick out in the rear about an inch. There offset 40 and 30 in the front.

Nitto 315s are too small for a 10.5" rim, I know this from experience. They are barely wider than my BFG 275s... IMHO 315 is overkill, 275-295 is perfect for a 10-10.5" wide rim out back but if you must run 315s, they'll fit on a 10.5" rim. As long as they aren't the Nittos, Nitto 315s max out on a 10" wide rim.
