Wheel widening?

So...I was looking into new tires and I started to think how silly it is to have a 285 on a 600 hp car. I was considering widening my rear wheels to be able to run a 315. Has anyone else done this? My other option would be to try to make a 295 fit on my tears but it's not ideal on 9.5 width. Thoughts?

Unless you really love your current wheels it'll be easier to just sell them and buy new wheels. On a 9.5" wheel i would go something like a 275 or 285. A 295 though i'd put on a 10" wheel.

I know someone who widened their 18x10 wheels to 12" to fit 345s and i believe they said it cost them $450 for both, but they did the lip of the wheel so you can see it if you look close enough. Do the inside of the wheel and you will be fine.

Maybe buy the AMR GT500 (just rear) knock offs available in 10" wide: Charcoal 2013 GT500 Style Mustang Wheels (2010-2014)*|*AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

Personally, I'd have found a cheap set of take offs to put on your old stang to trade in with and kept the Forgestars. 295 nittos on the rear would be good for now, and down the road, I'd go up to like 315's since you're on an 11" rim.

I had my bullits widened to 11".
Eric Vaughn machine in Monrovia cal. Is by far the best.
Expect to pay 250 to 300 per wheel.

That's what I should have done. Unfortunately that ship has sailed. Lesson learned.

We just did a Supersnake.
We put the rear 10" wheels on the front and widened the 9" fronts to 11 3/4" and put them on the rear. 315/20 Michelins were the widest that would clear. The 285's from the rear went on the front without issue.
