NT555R vs NT05 performance

Trying to decide which one of these to replace my regular 555s with in the rear. Nitto rates the NT05 as better performing than the NT555R, but everybody on SVTP recommended the 555R instead.

They even said the NT05 would barely be better than the normal 555? That seems weird. The 555s are useless in first, and almost useless in second.

Looking for some more advice. I'm putting down 450 rwhp, which would you guys go with?

I was in the same boat a few months ago. I did extensive research and found quite the opposite on the M1R and even in a thread on SVTP. I've also seen what you saw during my research.

I'm running the NT555 as a steer tire and the NT05 out back. I didn't want a full on drag radial like the NT05R or 555R as the car will see the street 90% of the time and heard the NT05R's are a nightmare on wet pavement, not to mention a wear rating of 100 (compared to NT05's).

Is it primarily a street car? Are you dead set on Nittos? They are good tires but there are other options out there, and at your power level the NT05 might not hook well enough. Maybe Toyo R888's or Pilot SuperSports if you have the coin.

Yep, mine's a DD too but I drive my Malibu when it's raining or snowing so it doesn't see quite as many miles as the average daily.

Looked up the Supersports, a little more than I can reasonably justify spending lol. I'm not dead set on Nittos though.

I got 20's with 255/305 and I can't wait till they are done to get a set of Invo's. The tires hook well in dry and rain but leave a little to be desired as a daily tire imo.
