Where do you all buy wheels?

I have been looking for different options for changing out my 17". Pretty much every set cost at least 2k for all 4 corners. Do you all spend that much on Americanmuscle or Cj pony? Or I'm missing some crazy deal here

Don't cheap on wheels, centering rings suck and cheap rims bend and don't balance well... Found out hard way on a BMW. AM and CJ are good for new aftermarket, try and find a set of take offs to save some cash but factory is best if you like the style. Boss 302 and gt500 wheels look sick with mild drops.

You know that warm and fuzzy feeling? That means something bad is about to happen...

OP - It's up to personal preference on what you're looking to get into be it style of wheel, what you want to spend, tires that you're after etc.

I'm more than happy to help if you'd like just let me know here or feel free to PM me with what you're looking into and I'll do the rest.

Alex

I scored mine used from a member on this forum...look at this and others for takeoff sets.

remember it has to be local or shipping will kill you.

I had AMR from American Muscle and, for the money, you cant go wrong. look great, exceptional price and AM is great. My current ones are from ACE. I saw and fell in love or hadnt ever planned on switching. if you like any of theirs lmk i will try to get you a good price.

I've bought two sets from American Muscle. The second set had two bad wheels and they sent the replacements out as I was returning the bad ones. The probably passed on the highway, lol.

Anytime I have purchased wheels they came from different sources, just as all vendors products. For the sake of this thread, I have always used a local shop, "Marc Yount's Tire" in Evans, GA. I know the wheels and tires will be inspected and backed up by Marc. Any problems are handled and I don't have to deal with it.

I know this sounds like an ad, but it isn't. I prefer to shop locally when I can.

Element Wheel out of Arizona. Carry so many, can't find a wheel you don't like here, they don't make it.

Got my AMRs from AM. On sale, quick shipping. No issues mounting/balancing.
Great value. Could have spent a lot more $$ but these work for me.

I got mine from Rod Baker Ford on Ebay and the tires are from Tire Rack or Tread Depot and had them mounted at my local Ford Dealer.

Depends on brand. Replicas should not be more than $1500 with the most expensive tires. $1100 or so with 17s and Sumis. Not sure what you are looking at.

I just started looking for wheels and tires as well over the last few days. I've searched through a bunch of sites but I think I'll be going through American Muscle. Hanging in the background and reading through these and other forums for a long time I've come to see AM is a trusted and very reputable site.

They also have wheel/tire packages which I'm looking into but my ideal setup is not one of their current options. I would guess they'd be willing to work with you on that though.

Good luck!

Where do you all buy wheels?

I went through AM for my first set, AMR GT500 style wrapped in 255/45/18 MT for $1200, not bad at all.

For my GT I purchased Enkei PF01s wrapped in 275/40/18 Michelin SS and custom hub rings, got them at a steal for $1600 shipped from a buddy of mine in the Air Force. The wheels alone are $400 a piece.

You really end up paying for quality/lightness. As long as you aren't going off roading or driving through the boondocks, cast wheels should hold up fine, especially AM brand.

Agreed, they usually have the best prices and sales as well. If not, they'll price match if you call.

I would also check out CARiD.com - Auto Parts & Accessories | Car, Truck, SUV, Jeep . They have a really good selection of different brand rims, and competitive prices and service. My advice. Do a lot of searching and comparison. It will save you some headache is the future. Good luck.

I'm a HUGE fan of the RTR Tech 7s.
  • They're light. (23lbs)
  • They come in the sizes I'm interested in 19x9.5 and 19x10.5 - I believe they have 20's now as well.
  • Two color options: Black and Dark Charcoal
  • Did I mention they are light?

The wheels themselves are very affordable. It's the tire prices that will make you cry.

Discount tire beat American muscles process with discount and I also got $130.00 in visa gift cards. I've bought 4 sets of rims from them and have had great results. If they don't have what you want they are able to order from just about any rim company.

I bought a set of AM brand wheels, no problems with them.

Recently bought a set of Enkei PF01s and Jesus are they light.

$1300 for AM to $3300 for the Enkei's, gotta pay to play.

Another cheap way to get good wheels is to be a fly on the wall of road racer forums. I picked up a set of new in box PF01 for 500 off, and my street brembos were also hilariously cheap.
