17x9 in front and 17x10 in back

You dont need that much tire but its looks awsome

Downside you cant rotate them

Your going to need a 305-315 tire for a 10" rim and aa 275 for a 9"

you dont need a 305-315 on the 10" rim. Ive got 285s and theyre plenty big enough... 295s would be perfect on the rear for a 10" rim and 265-275 on the 9"

Id recommend falken, or yokahama's as far as tires go. Heres a rear shot of 285 falkens on my 10" rears

you CAN run a 285 on a 10 inch rims.... but a 295 is BARE minumum unless you like curbed rims.... i would do it right and run a 305 on the rim, but really there is no need for a 10 inch rim out back to slow you down even more (extra weight) it may look good but you cant rotate... which is bad cuz the fronts will start to wear and get loud and drive you insane... and you MUST keep the front aligned perfectly and i would HIGHLY recommend some cc plates to really adjust the fronts to keep them wearing really smooth. I am on my 3rd set of 275/40/17s on 17 by 9 inch rims and my car is droped 1.3 inches i have NO issues with turning or anything, sure it rubs at a full lock but its bad for the car to hold the wheel at a full lock anyway.

i would buy 17 by 9s all around rotate them EVERY oil change and align every 6k unless they stay in alignment just get them checked by a GOOD shop and you may want cc plates due to the little wider front tires will wear on the inside faster even with stock specs on alignment.

i have 17x9's on my 200 stang with 275's all around w/o cc plates and the front tires stick out about .25- .5 of and inch of the wheel well. you can get 255 in front and 275 in back but can't rotate them but will be better for your allignment and tire wear.

in all fairness, I've been running stock tires, and they've been in the same place, except for one, for 35,000 miles, and they're still lookin' just dandy... this is the advantage to the v-6 Mustang.... that and I hung beside a 94-98 Mustang GT today, VERY happy about that

Cool

yes I would because you will have to buy new tires every 6months or so. I have 17x9's on my car with a 25540R17 in tire all around. You will be able to rotate you tires every 3500 miles. It will save you money in the long run.

17 by 9 rims require a 275 40 17 to look correct they can run a 245 or so.. but it looks stupid. I had 255s on my 03s when i got them OMG it was a horrible looking set up and everyone that has done it regrets it... so dont.

I have 17X8 and I think my car looks cool. Interesting people are more concerned with cool than performance

Cobra's until 03 came with 17X8's only the 95 and 00 Cobra R had 17X9's

I have 245s, and i don't regret it!

And I don't think my car looks stupid, and I don't really care if anybody else does.

The fact is the 99+ with the big *** shrimp boat back end and the wide *** flared fenders require 17X9's. With the stock 15 or 16's the car looks like it has training wheels on them. 17X8's look great on the 94-98

:
yeah well rims arent really for performance so, how does that have any thing to do with this. Rims are for looks, so if you are gonna buy rims, you are gonna buy the ones you think look cool. nine inch wide looks cooler. its true that the wider rims "slows you down" but its nothing significant

Yes they are for performance. Who told you they weren't . So dont WTF me!!! BY GOD

If that was true why does a Cobra R not have 15 Hummmmm!!! Fact is The larger rim and lower profile tire gives a great performance benefit cornering and road course driving

Now saying that with larger rims you take a small hit on the drag strip.

So dont spew bad info when I am around

No you are still wrong, small rims with low profiles tires make the car work harder unless you drive a go cart. Name one Race car with small rims ??????? HUMMMMM

the 9 inch rim and the 8 inch rim do not make a SIGNIFICANT change in handling, tires do.
notice i said rims do make a difference but not a significant one

Can anyone (Spectre) tell me what the widest rim and tire will fit on my back end, I was told 10.5 wont fit on back because of my IRS, im hoping 10's will. Anyone remember those ricers back in the 80's and 90's that had about a 10 foot spacer on all 4 rims and the wheels were about 9 feet sticking out on all sides? I think those people were living in the bottom of the human gene pool

LOL, I used to be one of them. And for whoever said rims don't make a significant changed in performance, have you heard of lightweight performance alloys? They factor in when it comes to a couple of pounds on the entire frame when accelerating and cornering. I've done some road racing courses (Bondurant), and what I learned is that all aspects, including wheels factor into the performance of the car, as well as the width of the wheels are tires. Low profile tires are good for better cornering. the more rubber you have on the road the more control you have

Wheels are rolling weight too, and that's a lot worse than just static weight in the vehicle.

This thread gets revived like every other week.
