PROBLEM! Can't get hood open!

Alright, I swapped hoods today. I had to adjust the fender to get the hood align the right way. I closed the hood, but the latch(yellow rubber cover) seemed to have pushed down. I can barely get my hand underneath the hood in between the grille. Is there any way to free the latch to get the hood open! My body shop is closed today, so until then, I'm on my own!

Oh yeah, to top it off, I cracked my f**kin cowl, and there's 4inches of snow, its been a great day.

Try pushing slightly down on the hood then lifting up...it might be just enough to free it up for you.

I tried that...didn't work. What would be the worst scenario...have to cut the latch?

Do you still have a grill in the front (the honeycomb) or do you have a grill delete?

Yeah, the grille is in front with the pony in the corral. I think you have to remove the bumper to remove the grille, and the bumper can't be removed without the hood being up...F**k!!! I can just get my hand on the yellow latch, but I can't pry it open.

Re: PROBLEM! Can't get hood open!

I was wondering if you had the grill cause if you had a grill delete you might be able to go up that way. Try going behind the bumper in front of the engine...it's gonna be quite a reach but you might can get it to come loose..

Yeah, I was wishing I had the delete
I'll try that...if anything, I'll have my body guy put in on the lift and go from there.

Re: PROBLEM! Can't get hood open!

Well, good news. My body guy was able to fix the latch. Just needed readjustment after getting unstuck. Glad that's over.

How did your guy readjust it? I am having some problems with my hood latch (it wont catch the hood) and I am thinking it needs an adjustment as well - but I am not sure how to go about it and my Owner's Manual wasn't too helpful...

Anyone who has dealt with this before please chime in because right now the hood is ghetto rigged... see picture...

Re: PROBLEM! Can't get hood open!

The two bolts on the hood latch can be loosened in order for you to raise or lower it. Pretty simple adjustment. Very common when installing aftermarket hoods.
