Re: Rear End gears

most people go with 3:73 for a stick and 4:10 for an auto

Re: Rear End gears

but going from 3:55 to 3:73 is not going to be a world of difference. I would go 4:10s for the best bang for buck. Tho is may not work for you if you drive a lot of miles in the car

Re: Rear End gears

Mine came with 3.31 as the GT (2005+) I thought 3.73 would be a jump but with the bigger tires I was Thinking that maybe 3.90 ?????

Re: Rear End gears

ring and pinion only cost about 200 bucks from american muscle which to me is decent but the installation is 400 and however you choose to tune it so if you want to see a big difference in what your spending i'd go 4.10 but you'll be doing a higher rpm when your cruising

Re: Rear End gears

ah i see what your sayin now if your wantin speed that is part of it you'll definalty have to start in first if you plan on racin it "legally" but ya since your getting to a higher rpm faster you will shift much sooner

Re: Rear End gears

even with the 16s vs 17s the overall diameter is the same (the wheel has more sidewall to make up the difference) so it wont matter.

Your stock ratio is 3.27 im sure so 3.73 will wake it up and shave off about 2.5 tenths to 3.0 tenths in your quarter mile times. If you have an auto i would go with 4.10s as the gears in the auto is worse than the manual so you can up the gear to make up the difference.

You will need a tune to fix the speedo, that will help the car as well but do get all the mods before the tune to get it all done once, or get life time tunes as some places offer. Just get a REAL tune not an off the shelf crappy tune.

Re: Rear End gears

I have an auto and just, like I got my car back half an hour ago, had the 4.10's and a t-lok installed. I can't say anything about it's max potential since I'm waiting for the wearing in period before I try to WOT her but even just regular street cruising was a hell of a lot more impressive than before. You'll notice a difference with either the 3.73 or the 4.10
