Audio Accessories Help

My stock cd player has problems reading cds... it heats them up, and spits them out saying Err. So i bought a new cd player.

I have got an Alpine cd player model:cde 9870
I went to Best Buy and they told me they couldn't recommend any dash kits because they couldn't confirm the fit or something like that

where can i buy a dash kit, or installation kit?
also i probably need the wire conversion kit so that would be helpful as well.

Re: Audio Accessories Help

What year is your car? I forget the part number, I can look it up soon though, but you'll need the Metra Ford Mach wiring harness. It's a gray rectangular plug and a square black plug.

EDIT: Nevermind the year. If you have a split CD player and radio/cassette then you will not need an installation kit. It's a 7" x 2" size radio which is DIN sized and standard aftermarket. If the CD player is all in one you will need a kit. I forget the exact model number again, but give me a moment and I will find it. The "all-in-one" CD/Radio size is double din size. You can also pick up a double din size radio.

Re: Audio Accessories Help

Yeah so you will need a install kit. Let me look it up. I'll edit this post when I find it.

EDIT:
Install Kit: Metra Part # 99-5026
...and my mistake, apparently the harness is different in 03+
Wiring Harness: Metra Part # 70-1771
...for the hell of it
Speaker Harness: Metra Part # 72-5512
Reverse Harness into OEM Radio: Metra Part # 71-1771
Double DIN Install Kit: Metra Part # 95-5026

Re: Audio Accessories Help

That did help quite a bit, I'll probably have to create a custom box being as though i have two 12" rockfords. The only problem i foresee is getting through the firewall for the power supply.. I had a 96 sunfire that i just poked a hope through one of the rubber seals, but i wasn't worried about damaging it since it was a pos anyway. where exactly does the clutch go through on an 03 automatic?

Re: Audio Accessories Help

You could take the carpet up and do it that way, but it's really time consuming. I just ran my power wire down through the door jam, and under the trim all the way back to the rear seats, then beside them, behind the seatbelt, and to the amp.

Re: Audio Accessories Help

Sorry I meant to take pics on my '02 where the clutch enters and inside the engine bay. I did snap two pics but it was late so I do not think they will help.

Re: Audio Accessories Help

Scratch that. Check out over here. Is there a stock grommet you can go though?Sometimes there is unless that was the clutch
