Next least expensive Mod?

I have a 2000 Mustang v6 convertible, 5- speed manual transmission with the following mods

1. Dual Exhaust with Flowmaste series 40 with h pipe
2. Densecharger full length cai
3. udp

My question is would I gain anything by getting a performance chip at this point? I dont plan on doing anything internal to the engine, no charger or nitrous. Or would getting intake spacers do anything for me also?

Thanks in advance for you alls help
Steve

Again thanks for all input

a performance chip is pretty much worthless (as all mail order chips are) the only chance you have to gain anything decent is with a custom chip from a good company that KNOWS v6s... not just a mail order off the shelf chip, check out americanmotorsports or what not at the bottom of the main forum page.

if you get a dyno tune with a chip you may see 7-9rwhp and tq

what is in the rear now? Will the 3.73 be quicker off the line and will it affect my gas mileage on the highway?

you have 3.27 gears now...3.73s will get you into the powerband quicker, and your talking a few hundred RPM difference while cruising..so as long as you behave your gas mileage won't change much if any

What is it, after 70 or a lead foot and it'll drop a little bit.

I think alot of muffler shops will do it, but you have to buy the gears through them just in case there is something wrong with them.

the only reason not to get gears is install issues... if you know a good install place you will be fine, but if they are not installed correctly are used parts they can whine and even break... so have a warranty on whinning and what not to help with that.

I heard richmond whine. I took the old used 3:55's out of one rear end & threw it in another, when I had my old five oh. All you need is a press.

A good place to get gears is GEFordracing.com they are going for about $169.00 and after that you can take it to a shop and pay to have them installed but my recommendation is to get a T-lock at the same time that way you can go ahead and put that in since you are going to have the rear opened up anyways

Just make sure they are ford gears.

Well another draw-back with gears, even though i still havent bought em but im on the mother fuc@&#er is that you have to either have the ECU reflashed or whatever that basterd is called, i dont know much about cars, otherwise your speedometer calibration is off. If you plan on buying a predator or something like it, then buy it when you get your gears

Gears don't give you any additional horsepower, but it feels like you get about a 50 hp kick in the seat of the pants when you are driving your car, its a great mod, and well worth the money. 3.55s aren't discussed a lot here, but I have a set in my GT from when I did my IRS swap, and I am very satisfied with them, I cant' feel a large difference between them and the 3.73s I had, and I am sure my highway mileage is better now.

A chip is ok, best for an auto. However, you will get the best bang for your buck on gears and traction lock. Check install prices in your area. It was high here. You may come out better getting a whole new rear end with gears and t-lock already in it. That way if you do more in the future, you could have a bigger, stronger rear end! Not cheap but the best for your dollar!

I have a manual with 3:73's and definitely think they are the way to go.

Oh and for those of you with pre 99's you need a $15-20 speedometer gear (little plastic thing) instead of recalibrating the speedometer through the computer.
