gas leak

so i was drivin through town a few days ago and i saw my old 2001 v6 at a shop i sold it to one of my freinds and i noticed yesterday he drove by and didn't even wave at me so i figured there was something wrong with it so i called his buddy and he said there was a leak in the gas tank i never noticed it when i had it the mechanic charged him 600 dollars i wouldn't think a gas tank for a mustang would be over 100 dollars and i've taken out a tank b4 and it only takes an hour or less to take it out and put it back in did he get screwed over?

Re: gas leak

yea he got screwed over, you can replace a fuel pump an what not in under a hour.

A new gas tank would be between 100-200 bucks I cant remember but ive seen new ones before. drop the old one, and put the new one in and ur done.

Re: gas leak

It may have been the rubber seal next from the fill tube to the gas tank.

$20 fix.

Re: gas leak

A "new" gas tank is $500, but shouldn't be replaced unless it gets smashed. He probably got screwed.
