Exclamation Bad news help please!!!!

I snapped a bolt removing the head and took it some so called shop but the screwed me... they tried to drill it down and put a start bit in it and tried to turn it with rachet, guess what start bit broke and after about 10 minutes off watchin the get no where i grabbed my head and left... problem is I can seems to drill the star bit out the stuck in my broken bolt to use an easy out and i notice they tried to weld i guess the bit back together, I dont know but i need some help... I'm kicking myself in the *** big time.... by the way its not a head bolt its an lower intake bolt into my head sorry bout that....

Any tips on how to get it out... Also how much maybe a junkyard head run for and what year should I get maybe i can gain some hp with gettin a newer 3.8l head....

Can i just put the heads back on and over torgue the intake, and put some rtv sealant... I dont think I can just askin doubt i would get a hole oil change or even a start up without a leak....

I REALLY THANK ALL FOR HELP!!!

always a bad idea to over torque something... think about swapping to the 99+ heads and intake

Re: Bad news help please!!!!

all you can do now is drill out everything from the hole and put a heli-coil in it's place. It's gonna be tuff to drill. you really need a drill press to do it right.

I did that with the upper intake bolt thinking tighter was better. snapped off like a twig. I just left it like that...

Re: Bad news help please!!!!

the engineers that designed the motors decided on a torque spec... but if you think you're smarter off than them, feel free to over torque what they recommend. Afterall, they designed it for that spec

Re: Bad news help please!!!!

heat the bolt with a propaine torch. get it good and hot. slowley.take some wax like a candle. put it on the hot bolt and let it melt in.let it cool completely.smack the center of bolt with center punch.this will loosen bolt in its theads. some times u can then turn it by hand or a left hand bit

Re: Bad news help please!!!!

I have used my Fordom flexible shaft grinder w/ a carbide bur on exhaust studs to get that hard metal out. I broke two drill bits and an easy out on one stud and was able to get it out. Of course the motor was on a stand. But if you hit the threads you will have to drill and heli-coil it. Good luck.

Re: Bad news help please!!!!

On the exhaust manifold/midpipe bolt... the shop had to cut it out with a plasma torch. That is obviously not a good idea for a head.
