ported heads

what are ported heads, intakes, and that stuff, what is it. what does it do?

what does it mean to P&P your heads. can somebody explain this stuff to me?

ported means that the runners are opened wider to allow more air volume
polished means the runners are smoothed to have no turbulance in the air stream.

so if you port and polish, you allow more air into the engine and out of the engine while allowing the air to flow more effeciently, thus making more hp.

**I have sigs turned off, so if you're asking for advice based on your mods, I can't see them**

The general way to make horsepower is by getting more air and fuel into the engine and by widening the air flow through the intake and heads and then smoothing them out to get rid of all the obstruction gives your engine more air.

not insulting you or anything but this is a very helpful link for understanding basically how an engine works...


also there are many other sections in that site about car stuff...like "how manual transmissions work" and stuff like that
