Exclamation 4.0 stang > charger R/T

I was coming home from work a few hours ago and I was behind a charger r/t, I passed it on the left when he hit it, I heard it downshift and chirp (we we rolling at about 45mph) and without hesitation I slammed it into second from fourth and mashed the pedal. Now, I just got my 3.73 gears and trac loc installed, I also have cai, exhaust, and a tune... And to my suprize, I walked the charger all the way through second and third. We started perfectly leveled out at the same speed. Once we hit fourth, I had one full car length and we both decided to call it. At the next light, we gave each other the thumbs up and went our separate ways. Just thought I would share this with everyone, I had no idea that those bolt one would equate to that much power! I'm fully stoked about this

Re: 4.0 stang > charger R/T

NICE BRO! im getting my 3.73 gears w/ t lok installed on tuesday! i have 3.9 with a diablo tune, mac cold air, o/f h pipe (no cats) w/ flowmaster and ofcourse dual exhaust! im looking to see the same results hopefully! so is the take off worth the cash? i got my set used for under $200 and then $75 for the repair/installation kit! the place im putting it on at is charging me $350 to install though so all in all it will total almost $625 to have this done! how long did it take for them to install yours?

Re: 4.0 stang > charger R/T

That's a damn good price, my setup was $915 out the door with ford racing gears and trac-loc, took 4 hours to complete.

The best part is that I was sort of racing this kid in a saturn sky before the charger R/T showed up, I wasn't even close to flooring it but every time the kid tried to pass me I'd hit it and dust him.

Then the charger showed up and we both hit it hard an the kid in the sky became a dot in the mirror, lol!

Nice, I'd have to say that the gears were definitely worth the time and money.
Goes to show that a proper gear/tlok install and a decent tune are effective.

Not that we would take you, but we'd appear much bigger in your rear view mirror and create a slight increase of worry for you over the other v6s haha

Re: 4.0 stang > charger R/T

The V6 seems to be a lot faster than the Charger RT. My son had pretty much the same result before the 3.73. 07 V6 5 speed, dual exhaust and cold air intake. Raced a charger RT from a stop, and pulled away. The next stoplight the guy in the charger asked why my son and his friend were laughing. They just answered "it's a V6". We've since put in the 3.73 with a posi, can't wait to see how fast it is in the 1/4. I had a friend that bought a Charger and paid about twice what I paid for the Mustang. I love my Mustang!

Exactly! I would feel sick if I had to pay 32k to be a fast as 16k plus a Fw hundred worth of mods although I will say this, the RT with flowmasters is probably the best sound I have ever heard. But it's not as loud when it's behind you
