So wendyc, why are you taking off your highflow cats? Arent they like just as good as no cats at all?
So when you get everything back on are you going for a dyno tune? Or are you getting any kinda chip or anything? O hand what about your 7.5 rear end? I dont know if it will stand that much force too long, I mean you should see about 350rwhp and torque!

There are numerous people above 300HP with 7.5 rear ends. As long as you dont throw slicks on there and change the rear end lube and add friction modifier to it you should have no problems. Pete Campbell has around 400Hp and takes his car to the track more than most and still has a 7.5 rearend

A 7.5 rear end will stand up to about 500-550 HP so you should be ok with that

Corey,

I believe Pete has moved up to an 8.8.
But he did run the 7.5 for a long time successfully.

Shame on him.

It's still a good rear when taken care of...

Because I believe the car with now sound ok without them. I live in a no emissions area and the only reason I have them is because I was afraid the car would sound like *** with no cats. It would also be hard to fit them in now with the long tubes and crossover. You are about to see them show up in the classified section.

Depending on emissions, you might pass with them and they keep it from sounding bad.

Yes, AZDynoChip in Tempe, AZ.

Quote:
Or are you getting any kinda chip or anything?
I have a diablo sport chip with a FordChip burn but they can't retune it with the software they have so I had them send me a new SCT chip. You are also about to see the diablo for sale.

I think it will last a while. I don't go to the track, this is a grocery getter. For the money I would get for it (and have to ship it because I probably couldn't find a buyer locally), I will just try it and see (aka take my chances). If it breaks I will buy a new one (8.8). Easy enough. As for 350 rwhp I doubt it. Most estimates are saying right under 300.

Wendy in your situation the 7.5 is fine.
You will be able to get on it on the street with no problems.

Sticky tires & high rpm launches are what will break it.

I dont know... Ive seen almost stock single port mustangs put down 280+rwhp with 8-10psi. Since you have the p&p and cam, you should see around 300-350rwhp. At leaste I wouldnt be too surprized if you did.
Oh and, if you are putting down 500-550rwhp, your stock 7.5 wouldnt last a week unless you drove like your grandma or somthin.

You should have sent me your valve covers and I would have bead blasted them and powdercoated or ceramic coated them any color of your choice!!!! Here are mine. They are the same color as my car Laser Red

It is $20 for the Bead Blast and 30-40 for the powder coat.

The bead blast is a little tricky to do because the valve covers are magnesium and are cast so they are notcompletely smooth and when you take the stock black powdercoat off you find pits and voids in it so after I bead blast I take a dotco to the cover and smooth out the voids. Then it is off to powder coat!!!

I have someone powdercoating the valve covers and alt cover. I was going to do the bracket that holds the powersteering pump too but then it wouldn't match. After this is over you really won't see the valve cover on the passenger side. I would have already had them but he and his wife had some complications with the birth of their new daughter so there is a hold up. I told him not to worry about it until all that is going better.

Oh yeah and I can still change the color but currently I told him black chrome which is kind of like a gunmetal grey color to match the intercooler pipes.

Danger Dude, with your powdercoating could you find some valve covers to start with then get the persons as a core? I would hate to have mine off for long.

I think it would always feel like that. Just think if I had gone far enough to rebuild the motor with forged internals!

Well I went low 13s in my V6 wit some major traction issues. I always wanted to get that 12 second slip before I got rid of my car I knew it had it in it. I think that pisses me off more then anything.

Again your project bad *** hands down. Cant wait to see what #s that baby puts down

It's the bassani bx (not ss) and a Mac off road H for long tubes. The place sent the wrong H but we are going to make it work. Now I have two places to plug the EGR and no rear sensor holes! Which I would have blocked anyway. The hangars are just in the wrong place. Anyway... so now there is one more unfinished part. He only has one day off in the next 9 or 10 so our progress is pretty halted.

I am also in search for the bracket to go from the 90mm Lightning MAF to the filter with the fendermount bracket. Mine won't fit since I changed MAFs.... I heard Vortech had them but the guy I got at Vortec acted like I was crazy... We may have to make one which isn't the end of the world, but will slow us down. The only other thing I am missing is gauges, they haven't come yet. The rest seems to be here!

Well, not too much to report. I know Vortech had sold some but I wondered if they stopped. Regardless I just couldn't get through to the sales guy. I got the part number from "MK" and called Vortech well armed with more info and got it ordered. It's on it's way. We've been working on the exhaust and it's almost in now.

Just for kicks here's a pic of the exhaust before we put it in and a shot of my interior. I have decided to get it detailed inside and out and in the engine bay when I finish. A luxury I can afford and a nice treat when we finally finish!

We also got the 1" wheel spacers on the back. They look much better but now I may need mudflaps. I thought they would bolt right up but with my wheels, the bolts needed ground off. I'll get a pic next time I am in the shop!

OK, to update, we got the wheel spacers on and they really helped with my rims...

I got all my powdercoating stuff from v6Sprout and it looks awesome!

We also got the bracket from Vortech, gauges, and everything else I can possibly think of. lol

We got the RR on and adjusted with no problems (that we know of yet.)

We have the new chip in, the exhaust mostly in (to be finished really soon).

Next we are going to button up the engine by putting on the fuel rail, injectors, pcv stuff, and everything else I can think of. We need to go ahead and make the modifications for the A/C... oh and install the gauges... Then we'll move onto the intercooler.

Here's a look with the newly powdercoated valve covers and alt case.

Here's a quick shot of what the gauges will look like although the flash made the pic come out a little weird... I wanted something simple that would match my stock gauges.
