IRS in 2006 V6?

How much custom work will be needed to swap an IRS from a 03/04 Cobra into an 2006 V6, if any? I know that I will need a V6 pinion flange, but will the IRS kind of just fit and has anyone (V6 guys) done this? Thanks

The IRS itself is a bolt-in. make sure you get the upper mounting brackets, everything else literally bolts in.

Re: IRS in 2006 V6?

yea its pretty much straight forward... but I would HIGHLY recommend while you have the IRS sitting around before you install it you replace all the bushings in it and when you install it you use the correct 14mm front IRS/tq box bolts and low profile rear bolt (tire clearance)

for bushings go Delrin you can get them from A427cobra on svtpermance.com or maximummotorsports.com

Re: IRS in 2006 V6?

You can check out sites like svtperformance as there are usually people out there looking to sell theirs since they have downgraded to a solid rear. PSR is in the process of designing a chrome molly version of the IRS for the 03/04 cobras however you will be looking at about $2500 before shipping for it and there is no expected release date yet.

Your best bet is to cruise some SVT intensive sites and check out the for sale ads. I'm pretty sure there are 2 or 3 for sale on SVTP right now, I just don't have time to go look for them for you right now since I'm at work. CHeck out that site and it should help you you some. Expect to pay around $1000 for it without shipping as most are going for $800-1100 these days.

As did I...

Yeah, the IRS will not go into the S197 body without a ton of modifications.

+1! I went in thinking it wouldn't be a huge difference and it didn't take that much in the 1/4 mile but MAN does it liven it up while daily driving. That and the T-lok and man it's a hell of a lot funner to drive.
