Fixed your links for you.

Also, I would avoid RPM outlet for anything you even dream of buying. Major pieces of crap over there.

Re: new shifter for Auto V6?

I'm thinking they are looking for the suckers that would believe a different handle would make it easier to slide the shifter forward and backward.

But no, I don't see how they could make it easier for much of anything...it just looks prettier.

Re: new shifter for Auto V6?

i'm not sure, i might be missing something, but ratchet shifters basically turn your automatic into almost a manual. you put it in 1st, than of course it will stay in that gear till you change it, yes you can do this with the normal shifter, but on the ratchet ones you basically pull the ratchet and it goes directly into 2nd, which doing quickly otherwise might result in passing the gear you need. (thats what i've been told ne way, and again, i dunno which shifter exactly your talking about, but if it is the ratchet ones, there you go)

Re: new shifter for Auto V6?

Yah, I'm seeing it as bloodyspirit058 is, as a ratchet shifter. If that is the case, I'd go with a B&M ratchet shifter if they make them for the 05+. I've heard good things about the 99-04 ones.

Re: new shifter for Auto V6?

dunno about how safe it is or anything, bascally you pull the handle and it goes straight to second. the ratchet mechanism is put so it clicks into second, where normally when you put it into gear you can easly slide "through" the gears this just locks it than you just do it again and your inthe next gear, you can also hold some lever or w/e and it operatates just like a stock shifter. a guy at my last job talked about em a lot, he wanted one for a 70 somethin camaro.

from what i can tell (and my limited knowledge of auto transmissions since i don't like driving them) is that the transmission will shift before the rev limiter, how far, i have no clue, but for drag racing i guess its enough of a difference that this will benifit you.

on a side note, just remember not to shift in reverse when going 30-40 mph, my buddy did this in an expedition... we stopped pretty quick

Re: new shifter for Auto V6?

manually shifting an auto is pointless, the computer is faster than you are and knows when to shift better. uif you want better shifts, but a tuner and shift kit.

Re: new shifter for Auto V6?

Dude, its completely ok to manually shift your 5r55 auto trans....just don't make it habit of doing it everyday. I've got an 01 v6 auto, upped the shift pressure, and manually shift it racing and on occassion. I haven't had a lick of problems out of it in the 4yrs I've had my car. About the shifting thing, just pay attention to when and where you shift you shouldn't have a problem missing a gear. Key is, pay attention.
