Tail Lights

So I love the look of the whole blackout look on the tail lights. Ive seen the paint from americanmuscle.com but are there any alternatives to buy locally. I youtubed it and it said to sand to prep before the paint. Can someone pleeeaase tell me what exactly I need to do and what to buy for this?
Thanks alot

Re: Tail Lights

I've heard the paint can permanantly turn the tailights purple. They sell covers and tint. See if you like one of those

Re: Tail Lights

If I were to do it professionally I'd clean the tail light really well, sand it with 1,000 grit, spray on some really reduced black, clear coat it, then buff it out. Or you could just thin down some candy black with the clearcoat.

I'm not sure if you'd need a flex additive or not for the tail lights. Usually you do with plastic parts but I think it would be fine without. The only way you could do this cheap is if you know a painter or a good hobbyist that has the tools.

For just the tail lights you would probably only need about 2-4 oz of candy black.

Re: Tail Lights

Have a local buddy that does them all the time and it looks fine. Haven't had any color fading either.

the tint is thick... the heat gun helps it bend around the tail light and adhere better.
