a mustang gt. Thats how much crap your gonna need. Either buy a gt like i did or but a wrecked one and use all the parts. And why do you want an auto trans for a v8?

it would save you money in the end to sell your car and buy a v8 unless you can do 99% of the work yourself and get a donor car very cheap

If you want a 4.6 then it would be easier to get a gt. Or you could go the route I'm going with my wifes 02 v6 car. I'm gathering all the parts and will be swapping in a 302. I want the look of the 99-04 car but with the good ol 5.0 under the hood.

Nobody here is trying to be a dick when they say buy a v8. They all know through experience that is easier and more efficient to just buy the v8 car.

If you really want to do the swap, it is possible, but as stated above, a donor car and the ability to do all the work is your best bet.

My buddy had a new(used) 4.6L 2V swapped in his 01 GT, and it cost him 5700...and that was from one GT to another GT, so I could only imagine it costing at least that much for someone to swap one into a v6 mustang...

that is silly expensive. I'm planning on my MMR800 costing less than that

Yah I know, I personally think the mechanic screwed him. I don't think that swap should cost that much even with a new PCM being involved.

Apparently he got the engine and tranny with 43k on it for around 1500.
The remaining 4200 ~ labor and misc. parts idk :dunno:

I guess doing the work yourself makes all the difference...
